Good Morning Everyone Is there a Witch Hunt at Elland Road to get rid of Pontus Jansson? Cast your mind back last Summer regarding the Swedish Internationals proposed move to Russian outfit Krasnodar. ER sources were heavily insinuating that Jansson wanted the move, and it was only after he made it abundantly clear that he didn't want to go through social media, and that Leeds were trying to sell him against his will that suddenly the media reported that Leeds had turned down a 10m offer! Turning down the 10m offer - That's better then PR Pete and Alistair Campbell combined! Following dozens of recent reports linking our star centre back to a move to the Premiership, Jansson has once again made his feelings clear:- "I've always said that taking the step up to the Premier League is my dream and I want to do it with Leeds", Jansson told Aftonbladet. "It is up to Leeds if there is an interest in negotiating [my exit]. "Until then I am 110 per cent Leeds. "I will be there until the day they don't want me." Thoughts? Ex Leeds star Danny Mills believes the San Francisco 49ers will eventually take over at Elland Road. “Leeds have had interest from the Middle-East before and it has never materialised,” “Unless a firm deal was on the table I would be very sceptical. There’s been too many false dawns around potential investors. “If Leeds start to succeed and get back in the Premier League, I wouldn’t rule out a takeover from the San Francisco 49ers. We know they have the money. “Radrizzani will be talking to them before anyone else if he is looking to sell.” One thing I didn't know it according to the above report, they claim the 49ers own 25% of the club for the 11m investment, not 10% as I thought. That would put the club's value at 44m. Surely Rad's being short changed! What kind of impact would you imagine Fulham, Huddersfield and Cardiff will have on the 2019-20 Championship season? I was astounded that West Brom, Swansea and especially Stoke were not fighting it out for top spot last season. I suppose it shows just how difficult it is to get out of the Championship!
Cardiff still play football like they are in the championship, with most of the same players and think they will be the biggest threat. Don't see the other 2 doing much.
Parker turned a bit of a corner with Fulham... they might be in the mix... hard to see ‘udders doing much. Guess it depends for all of them how many of their better players they keep.... and how long it takes them to shake the losing habit.
Firstly on the £11m investment and the 25% ownership. Its a deal that means 49ers have 13% share in the club regarding voting rights but have another 12% hidden almost pretend shares. Check out Mike Thornton as he explains it better than I. Secondly Pontus the enigma. I read comments yesterday from a Swedish fan who spoke about an interview he gave back home. Pontus loves the club, the fans and says Bielsa is a genius and has made him think about his body, his mind, his preparation and recovery and made him a much better player. He also admitted he thought he was billybigbollox and Bielsa soon cured of that so there are no problems between the 2 now. The main issue around Pontus is that he is firstly one of the top 3 Cbs in the league and maybe the best. There's a lot of interest in him from the prem and top European clubs, so he will always be in the lazy journo posts in papers. factually speaking Southampton want/need him and will offer around £15m for him. They have Sam Galagher they want to offload and also Macarthy, so thats why non stop Pontus talk. We will have to wait and see. KP flew from Manchester this morning and it seems the club are refusing all offers for him and he is happy about that.
Morning all... I’m never sure what to make of Pontus, I believe he is in two minds, loves being at Leeds but would jump at playing in the PL, I’d say he is keeping all his options open and that he also has an agent biting his ear
Morning all. So no investment likely in the short term. More wheeling and dealing as last two seasons so and hoping yet again we get quality loanees in. Read interesting article this morning by Villa owner explaining how difficult their job is ahead. Lots of McCormack type contracts still to be honoured, loanees gone back to their clubs so they need to recruit wisely. Explains the 170m valuation of promotion is actually spread over 4 seasons so needs to be carefully spent. Also mentioned, of the teams promoted through play offs for last four seasons, three have gone straight back down, Huddersfield the exception and went the following year. As for relegated teams this time, I expect none to make an impact, same as last season. Theye were all soundly relegated with hopeless points totals. Rubbish outfits
Eire makes a valid point about investment and Phil Haye has this morning come out and said that Championship teams are now worried about FFFP rules since Birmingham got points deducted. He said most of the deals done this Summer will be loans, so not just at Leeds. We just need to make sure we get 4 loan players who all contribute as we only had one that worked last season
Morning All, Pontus has got to be looking at this from a perspective of probably being more than half way through his career, he's 29 early next year. Right now he is sufficiently far away from the big 3 0 for it not to be a problem but if he chances his hand with Leeds for one more season he will be right on the limit. So it's a big call for him. He has to make his money and he has to satisfy his ambition, perhaps Leeds will do it next season, I always hope so, but my livelihood isn't riding on that happening.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a dull cold Bardsey Love ton read Pontus wants to stay if we need to sell a CB sell Cooper I know we need to sell players in order to buy better players but Harrison forget him he must be a very lucky boy because he isn't worth more than 5k a week O.Dowda would cost 5m Gayle we could loan replace Cooper with the freebie from Brentford Macarthy would cost about 8M but at least we would have a keeper I know that Ches has suggested the Wednesday keeperWestwood who would do a good job but since Bruce has been in charge he has been ever present and I think he may have been offered a new contract Whatever were the authorities thinking when they chose Baku for last nights final the return of the brown bag has arrived they are all corrupt
Morning MAike, Cooper has always got a mistake in him tbh, but not sure whether we'd get more then 2.5m for Coops.
MikeT/AdrianTeakdesk@Mike_J_Thornton 6m6 minutes ago Replying to @EllandBack1 MikeT/AdrianTeakdesk Retweeted MikeT/AdrianTeakdesk The Tweet that I think Doc is referring to is this and the continuation. Does this help? @Mike_J_Thornton 'Scuse me butting in but the share % mentioned isn't quite right. 49ers have only bought once, in May last year. They bought 11m which would be 25% but currently only 13% are active leaving the rest as "dummies". Each year we do not get promoted more "dummy" shares get activated, up to a max of 17% active. That leaves spare shares that stay dummies unless club issues NEW shares, they get activated to restore the % & prevent any normal dilution Any NEW shares must be approved by 49ers
All centre half’s make mistakes... the thing with coops, it’s the kind of mistakes he makes... he’s a really good centre half and a good footballer, he was excellent for most of last season... and it takes a certain type of player to play bielsaball both defensively and with the ball. The errors he makes seem to be red mist moments or moments of panic. They are fewer than they used to be but have cost us this season... and obviously in big games. Over the season i think he probably made less mistakes than Jansson, certainly no more, but they stand out more.
This is Rafa Mujica from Barcelona B team with Orta heading into Elland Road. Loan deal or bought, I'd say loan deal. please log in to view this image
Jansson again says he's committed to helping Leeds next season. https://www.teamtalk.com/news/pontu...-8m-leeds-exit-talk-as-he-lifts-lid-on-bielsa
I thought Phil Hay confirmed it wasn’t him yesterday. The player himself sent out a tweet from Tenerife at the time this was supposed to be him? Or was that someone else?
