Good Morning Everyone Marcelo Bielsa has been speaking to the press ahead of the Yorkshire derby at Hillsborough tomorrow night. The Argentine made a very positive statement about one player in particular. When asked about Adam Forshaw, Bielsa replied that the former Boro man is now “ready to play” and was “the best player in the team” during the club’s programme of friendlies in July and early August. How important is Forshaw? Whose place in the team would he replace? Is there room for Forshaw and Klich in the same starting line up? During the presser, Bielsa refused to criticise BPF for his performance last Saturday, saying only: “He made a mistake for the first goal. This is in evidence. In the eight games before he played better than he played against Birmingham.” Fernando Forestieri may have to make do with a place on the bench against Leeds tomorrow night. The Argentine striker (a big admirer of Bielsa) has completed a three match ban for the Wendies, but Luhukay is unlikely to change the team that beat Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend. I can see tomorrows game being harder than I originally thought it was going to be! Is tomorrow's game a must win, or given the choice now, who would accept a point?
Morning ell and all Really want a win, I guess a point away is always acceptable but a bounce back win would put to bed the idea this is going to be a repeat of last season
Morning all Tomorrow is going to be one of the hardest games, however Wendy fans will be saying the exact same about facing us. It’s either Forshaw or Klich, not together unless Phillips is having a stinker, I’d be tempted to drop Klich tomorrow for Forshaw. Not because he has played badly, simply because he has not shone in the last couple of games and it’s a big local derby that I feel Forshaw would be better suited to.
Good morning Matt & everyone Surprised that Bielsa thinks Forshaw was our best player in the friendlies I suppose he'd replace either Klich or Phillips Don't know if there is room for Klich & Forshaw playing in the middle as we haven't witnessed them playing together over a sustained period. Fans said Hernandez, Saiz & Alioski couldn't play together which has since been proven wrong
I personally think we'll bounce back & beat the Owls At this stage of the season it's not a must win game, I think it's important we don't lose the game I always believe gaining a point away from home is a good point no matter who we play We look a better team away from ER imo!
Morning 20/20, the Wendies are on a high after beating Villa, we have an injury crisis to arguably our best players, I'd take a 2-2.
Morning ristac, I'd agree with you about Klich. He has not played badly at all, just not as well as he did in his first 6 games.
Morning Leon. I'm surprised how confident the bookies are that we will beat our South Yorkshire rivals. He are 5/6 for the win, whilst the Wendies are 12/5.
Morning all Bielsa starts with the same team again so Forshaw on the bench. Bielsa also said that Forshaw can play further forward, play the Klich role or the Phillips role. He also said Klich can do exactly the same forward, wide, or play at the back. So Phillips and Klich will be looking over their shoulders. Don't be surprised to see Forshaw replace Saiz at some stage too, because before he went to Boro as a DM Forshaw was an attacking creative midfielder for Brentford and created goals and scored goals too. Think this is why Bielsa was pretty specific with the players he kept, as it gives him options all over the park. Who would have though Berardi could play CB or Phillips could shine at the back and spray balls all over the park..... maestro Bielsa
Klich foreshaw is an interesting one. Foreshaw was obviously first choice, klich came in, made himself undroppable in the first few games... has been quieter since. Harsh to drop him...but he’s certainly the one guy who looks at the bench and knows his standards can’t drop. Nice problem to have.
Morning all....good to see Forshaw back to his best & causing Bielsa selection problems for the right reasons. A point in an away game is ok but a win would be better to get the weekend off to a good start.
Morning all. Not a must win but damn close if were thinking of winning the Championship. If were happy with a top ten finish then any result will do as long as we play well. One point missed from yesterdays presser was stating both Bamford and Brown are a long way off playing. We knew that about Bamford but many seemed optimistic that Brown would feature soon. Alas not the case seemingly and looks more likely hell have little impact at all till late in the season. No addition whatsoever. We may as well have signed a bunch of crocks in a no play no pay setup on loan and hope some of them would offer something before season end
Be a great addition in January to have Bamford and Izzy in the team though Eire, like signing 2 prem quality players for the final push. You never know we may also be working behind the scenes on another signing too?
Morning Matt and all I like Forshaw and think he did well on Saturday when he came on but the only way he'd replace Klich atm is if Klich gets injured or has a massive dip in form, nice to have players of Forshaws ability on the bench, klich does seem to be a player that's comes off more than most. Can't see any reason why Forshaw hasn't got the attributes to replace Phillips either. Good player to have. BPF didn't have a great game Saturday, but everyone is allowed a bad one, surely. Not confident Blackman is any better, didn't show anything in the 2 cup games, plus BPF is ours, not someone we are trying to increase the value of so Chelsea can sell on at a nice fee. Stick for me. I think Friday is mustn't lose rather than must win , but if we are serious of being a top 2 team, then we do really need to win it. Lose and that's 5 from 15, not good . Some games seem to define a season and this is one of those for me.
