Good Morning. It's Thursday 23rd July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds sign off the season in style

Bielsa's babes produced another masterclass as they prepare for life in the Premiership, condemning Charlton Athletic to life back to life in the third tier of English football. Any hopes that Leeds would take it easy on Lee Bowyer's side were dashed on 2 mins as Harrison curled a shot just wide of goal

The Whites took the lead on 13 minutes. Hernandez corner was returned back to him, and the veteran play maker's sublime pass found White on the edge of the D. The on loan defender added a further 5m to his Summer price tag as he chested the ball before smashing it through the roof of the net from over 20 yards out- not bad for his first goal of the season.

Hernandez set up the second goal too. He carved the Addicks defence in half (and another trademark nutmeg) allowing Dallas to stab the ball home.

Leeds extended their lead further six minutes into the second half. Roberts pin point header straight from a corner gave Charlton keeper Dillon Phillips no chance.

The icing on the cake came 25 minutes from time, Poveda latched on to a sixty yard diagonal pass. He squared the ball to Shackleton who calmly guided the ball into the corner of the net for his second goal in as many games.

Finally, the ghosts of 1987 and Peter Shirtliff can be laid to rest.

    Final day mayhem

Five games ago, Luton, Barnsley, Stoke, Middlesbrough and Huddersfield made up the bottom five of the Championship. Who would have thought ten days later all five would escape the trapdoor!!! If truth be known Hull have been on a collision course to league 1 since early January. They have won once in 20 games. Wigan's 12 point deduction for entering administration is well document. Had they held on to beat Fulham, they would have avoided relegation by the skin of their teeth. Plucky Charlton had only spent one week in the relegation zone before Leeds cemented their fate.

Most thought Luton's fate was sealed at Christmas. The Hatters were rooted to the bottom of the Championship and were leaking goals for fun. However, their great escape started upon the restart of the season. Nathan Jones' men accumulated an impressive sixteen points from their final nine games to escape relation at the 11th hour.

Barnsley were in the relegation-zone every week from 15 September until the 91st minute in the final game of the season! They too found their form when the season restarted at the end of June. 15 points from their final 9 games, including a last gasp winner last night from ex White Clarke Adour last night was enough to keep Barnsley up, and condemn Brentford to the play offs.

At the other end of the table, Nottingham Forest had a seven-goal cushion and a 3pt buffer going into last nights game overturned by Swansea City.

Who would you like to see win the play offs?

Should Wigans 12 point deduction for going into administration be overturned?

Kinnear - How can we trust you?

Thousands of Leeds descended en mass outside Elland Road last night, ignoring Leeds Utds plea's to stay away. Instead of road blocks, barriers and a big Police presence, the crowd were treated to an open bus parade.

This is a real kick in the teeth for the majority of the fans who had enough respect for the club they love to stay away.

Furious Leeds fans have taken to social media to express their disgust at what has been described as the 'scum element' of Elland Road, and being 'one step up from Millwall fans' after scenes of anti social behaviour, dozens of flares, smoke bombs and drunken behaviour once again taints our great club.

Should the fans be allowed to celebrate - of course they should, but what about the majority of fans who had the respect to stay away!

Leeds Managing Director Angus Kinnear's repeated warnings over the past week fell on deaf ears as early as last Friday. Hundreds of fans were greeted by the sights of their hero's celebrating from the Elland Road offices. Having been treated to those scenes of jubilation, thousands more decide to ignore Kinnears further orders to stay away from Elland Road last night, and were rewarded to see the Champions lift the title from an open top bus.

Don't you think the rest of us would have wanted to see that?

Still hasn't sunk in. After so many years of hoping the season wouldn't be over with the last regular fixture it seems weird not to be clinging on for the playoffs...

For anyone thinking that the supporters were going to stay away were just naive. There wasn't a chance in hell of that happening. Right or wrong it doesn't taint the fantastic achievement by the manager and players. What a brilliant performance by all the players last night. <ok>

It was always going to happen and you can't hold the club responsible for it but I can understand those fans frustration at missing it by being responsible and staying away. It's not just a lufc issue the scousers did it so did the baggies and no doubt the same will happen after the FA Cup. There will always be dick heads that go too far but at the end of the day Boris wanted things to go back to normal and that is how a lot of knob jobs behave.

    Morning all.

First things first. The debate about staying away last and the celebrations that did happen should in no way take away from what's been achieved on the pitch.

So well done to the club for taking away a special moment from the vast majority of supporters and handing it to the ones who ignored their advice and all social distancing rules.

I am thinking of doing a thread on the while super fan argument. I dare bet the majority of those at the ground will consider themselves "super fans".

I personally think they were just selfish idiots whose fear of missing out has taken that moment away from the rest of us forever.

I'm glad the team got to celebrate with the fans, self preservation was the main thing that kept me away. And the club telling people to stay away ? Well if it saves a few covid lives, it was worth while.

Morning fellow whites and the odd miserable Wally or Welsh sheep likely to appear. Agree with hemase, understand fans going but they are simply selfish idiots. Regardless what the club said, everyone knows covid is still the same dangerous killer it was four months ago and if you need Kinnear to point that out then god help your intelligence. My attitude is live and let live these days and frankly don't care what anyone else does re social distancing, trade masks etc as there will always be a minority of fools. Anyway, thats done and what a glorious last week to the season. No pressure and the football was breathtaking last night. Fantastic performances and goals. And Radz, if Ben Whites asking price is 50m. please beg borrow or steal it to get him signed up. Also a great investment as no matter what we pay his value will soar so its a no brainer.

I believe the bus was provided at the suggestion of Leeds City Council as a mechanism to try to bring the celebration to an early conclusion and so hasten the dispersal of the crowd.

I’m sure Kinnear knew about it but he isn’t solely responsible for it happening.

Morning all and i have voiced my opinion last night on the bus farce so back to looking after me and mine only.
My season aims were to win the league and average two points per game. We have done this and finished top of nearly every statistic too.
I started attending home games upon relegation 16 seasons ago. Found i liked the league and even enjoyed third division too. So i do not know if i will enjoy the prem prima donnas and their antics.
I will wait and see who we recruit and which of the u23s make the step up.
So i guess the big question is when will we be able to meet up and celebrate together. Has this virus killed off any hope of a meet up even just for a weekend in Leeds without tickets. I know we must wait to see but i feel robbed of the chance.

I try not to be too judgemental on this issue. From my point of view I want my family to have it as we're relatively low risk (pretty sure we have all had it actually) - but naturally i'd be gutted were i responsible for passing it on to someone else. So I try to keep my social distance where i can, but it's not always possible and in the current environment of loosening restrictions, you can see how people fall into the 'why bother' category and the chain reaction effect of that.

As a related aside, i've seen numerous posts commending bielsa dishing out hugs. Commendable on one level but maybe ill-advised on another?

Glory there with nothing to complain about, everyone probably turned up to see that.
Or was he there shouting Rad out, as he did say he was worse than Ken Bates.

I'll miss the Championship next year too Wakey - great league, endlessly competitive, full of drama and surprises. And like you, I started going across to games when we were in League 1 - I remember us beating MK Dons 4-1 second-last game one year and Showumni scoring. <laugh>

I have a feeling the Premiership will be a let-down in many ways, but it's where the money is and it's the platform we need to adjust to in order to progress as a club.

As for the meet-ups, we'll just need to keep an eye on the situation and make it happen when the opportunity arises. Social distancing in Wetherspoons before a game? Can't see it. <laugh><laugh>

Eze For Leeds and Good MORNING TO Matt and co from a wet Bardsey
Rumour has it that Swift is going to Sheff U for 3.5m and that our sight is set On Eze from QPR who has been outstanding this season he will provide goals and assists
Sorry for Wigan looks like they have been relegated at the expense of Barnsley who have been a revilation since lockdown Swansea somehow turned a 3 p0int defecit and 7 goal difference to Notts Forest
Finally I cannot believe our government giving the Chinese 71m in aid to support our competitors it just beggars believe surely charity should stay at home
