Good Morning. It's Thursday 1st October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Spanish media disclose Leeds had a 25m offer for Foyth turned down earlier in Summer Spurs reportedly rejected a bid of £25million from Leeds for Juan Foyth earlier this summer!!! The 22yo Argentine has fallen the pecking order since the arrival of Jose Mourinho last November, starting just one game. Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo claim Leeds tabled a £25million offer to sign Foyth, but the bid was rejected by Spurs. Foyth has now been offered to Spanish trio Villarreal, Valencia and Real Sociedad on loan – as Spurs look to get some game time for their young star. I'm not sure who was more insane, Leeds for offering 25m, or Spurs for rejecting it. please log in to view this image De Paul smokescreen worked out well for Leeds Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has revealed that Leeds never tabled any bids for Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul. The media circus surrounding Leeds interst in the Argentine International created a smokescreen for Victor Orta. He was able to go about his business of getting a deal done with Bayern Munich for Michael Cuisance without alerting any other clubs. Writing in the YEP Smyth said, “While Rodrigo De Paul flirted with fans on social media and kept himself linked to Elland Road, Orta made discreet advances towards Bayern Munich for Michael Cuisance. “A bid, Elland Road sources say, was never made for De Paul and although constant reports turned it into a bit of a sideshow, it acted as a smokescreen that allowed Leeds to get a deal done for a midfielder in relative peace and quiet.” please log in to view this image Leeds set to announce Cuisance arrival Leeds will complete the 18m signing of Bayern Munich star Michael Cuisance this morning, but only after Newcastle Utd tried, and failed to hijack the deal. The French youth international, a close friend of the shot-stopper Illan Meslier has been in negotiations with the Whites all week. Interest from St James Park began circulating a few days ago, unfortunately for the Magpies, they left it too late as Leeds had all but tied up all loose ends including a buy back clause for the German Champions. Cuisance completed his medical yesterday afternoon, and lets set to be unveiled today. please log in to view this image Leeds receive mix response over third kit design Leeds United have unveiled a maroon strip to complete their 2020/21 Premier League campaign. The Adidas shirt is a maroon colour that incorporates a fading tonal design on the front, with solid sleeves and back with a gold lining and badge The hierarchy at Elland Road claim they have used history to influence their latest unveiling, by releasing colours used during the club's European success under legendary manager Don Revie. The kit is meant to look especially good if worn in a darkened room or whilst blindfolded! please log in to view this image
Morning Elland and all who follow. I don't know much about these new signings, but hopefully they all come good. I've said my piece on the new shirt. I understand the commercial reasons for the new shirt and I appreciate that there will be a lot of young supporters and the trendy want to be young again skinny jeaned wearing over 50s who will like it. But I don't. I'm not sure either how they got the colour from Don Revie's sides from the past either. But maybe the older generation of fans can educate me, because I thought we started off with a similar strip to Uddersfield and then wore a blue and gold after that, until Revie famously changed the home strip to all white after the Real Madrid team.
Morning all. The blurb on the official site about the 3rd kit being a nod to the Fairs Cup winning team (wearing red of course) seems like a bit of back-tracking to me when they realised they might have another backlash on their hands. It will probably sell well enough, but hopefully we won't wear it in too many games and at least with no fans in the stadium for a while we won't see anyone wearing it in the crowd.
So if we get Cuisance and then Cantwell how will we fit them all in. I would say Klich and Phillips are undroppable. Pablo will probably be an impact sub this year. Looks like Rodrigo, Cuisance and Cantwell along with Robert's and hopefully Forshaw at some point will fight it out for the remaining spot. If we are after a winger too we are going to have alot of players unhappy with their play time and not much chance of the youth breaking through. Not moaning mind, just wondering how all this works out.
Morning, well Shaks I have never seen Leeds play in that Maroon strip or anything that resembles it, what I would like to know is who have the green light for that to be the 3rd strip?
Morning all. If the Cuisance deal does happen then let's give the young man time to learn and grow. 58 senior apperances (4goals) with only 11 of those for Bayern means he's far from the finished article. However he seems to be the type midfielder we really need, with a sweet left foot, very good close control and the ability to see passes both short and long. A very exciting signing and another massive round of applause to Radz & Victor if/when confirmed. The squad is now starting to look exciting, with some great youngsters as back up...the hope or dream is that Bielsa will want to stay and complete this unbelievable project.
Emu, please cease and desist immediately. No-one wants to see that, it was an unfortunate mistake and one we don't need reminding about !!!!!
Morning all Cuisance will be brilliant and able to play 3 or 4 positions and everyone who has been asked for a quote raves about him. Work rate, skill, seeing a pass and dynamic, a match turner. Rodrigo will take over Bamfords role as soon as Paddy slips up, and it will be a while before he gets it back from Rodrigo who must be champing at the bit. Rodrigo will also be important for allowing Bielsa to change tactics by using him as a 10 or 8 or even winger. if Cantwell comes it will be as a wing option or yet another player able to create. I’m really made up with what we have and if we get another winger fair play to Orta. Best transfers for years and dont forget we have Poveda able to play either wing or more
I would also add that we now have the defence covered and Koch is demonstrating that a young German International is actually much better than young White and half the price and we still have a Spanish CB able to cover Koch and Cooper and RB too as well as DM
Remember the grey and pink getting some stick too, but that kit has sold more than any other kit ever. Maroon makes Shak look slimmer so a must have for the body beautiful
Emu, I do remember we wore a red 2nd choice shirt for one season, but in those days most clubs would wear their first kit home and away and would only wear the 2nd choice kit if the colours clashed. My point that claiming to say the purple shirt was inspired by the Great Sir Don's sides was a lazy and inaccurate and IMO wrong thing to do.
Of course we weren’t interested in de Paul. Of course cuisance needs to know he was always the number 1 target. we’re paying for talent with cuisance - 2 years ago he was the munching flapjacks player of the year in the bundesliga... at 18!! But it didn’t kick in for him as hoped. He’s only just turned 21 and the understanding is we have a long term deal for him. He seems a bit of a free spirit as a player and will have to be bielsafied. I’m not sure he’ll be an immediate first team regular unless he’s earmarked to cover Pablo - but who knows. It’s a bit of a wild card signing in my view but the upside looks huge. Exciting times.
