Good Morning Everyone It looks likely that Marcelo Bielsa will name the same starting XI that edged pasted Sheffield Wednesday last week. The big question is, if you were Kemar Roofe, would your nose be out of joint? Who's the better striker? Bamford or Roofe? How does the young crop of talent emerging from Carlos Corboran's U23's compare to O'Leary's babes from the late 90's It is interesting to see the values that have been put on every Championship side, and their asetts! Morning all.. Firstly the clubs and assets are miles off. Quick example Che Adams has three PL clubs chasing him and starting fee has been mentioned at £15m likewise our own Kalvin Phillips rated a third of what we could get for him. Our young crop compared to the O’Leary era I’d say too early to tell, we’ve had lots of exciting promising youngsters who’ve been unable to take it to the next level but the results from the U23s have been impressive so I’m hopeful. Roofe shouldn’t be upset, Bielsa has always made it a thing that once in the team you need to be dislodged, Bamfords missed some easy chances but his hold up play has been very good. Although he has only had limited time since his comeback Roofe hasn’t exactly looked up to the speed of the game when he has come on. Me though, I’d start with Roofe but you know it’s not Bielsas way
Morning all Forget squad value as its corrupted due to how and when clubs post their accounts and is either too high or too low to play the FFFP rules game, or attracting investment at the other end. Our academy isnt yet as good simply because all those kids were brought up together for quite a long time. Our new kids are gradually getting there, but we also keep adding to the kids too. I think we will see the fruits of this next year. Dalby, Stevens, Edmondson, Kun, Odouh, Gotts, Shackelton, Hosannah, Clarke, Haughland, Miazek, Davies, Bogusz, Rey, Diaz, Struijk, Halme and plenty more should have a big future. We have a couple of kids selected for the England U16s too as well as England U18s, Under 20s and Under 21s. We are getting there and we should see more of these kids transition into the first team squad next season
Morning all. Impossible to judge the young uns yet. O'Learys went on to compete at the very highest level, up to CL semis, Current crop havent been tested beyond playing other young lads and reserves and most havent played in front of more than 1k supporters let alone a packed Elland Road. A whole different ball game. You only have to look at Clarkes injury and it shows how these young careers can be setback a year or two very easily
Morning all. I don't know who has done the valuations but I think Norwich would want more for Puki than they would for Rhodes.
Morning All, Estate agents talking about value , it's price that matters ? Bamford probably infront of Roofe. He doesn't seem to have recaptured his positional play quite yet but if Bamford doesn't get into gear before 55 - 60 minutes then I would bring Roofe on. It would be good to have an U23 forward or midfeilder on the bench as well, just in case. Will Roofe feel miffed if he isn't selected as 1st choice in the next 4 games. I suspect not as long as we get promoted The U23 look good against similar opposition but I'm not sure how good they would be against an oppositions 1st team so feeding them in 1 or 2 at a time makes sense. O'Leary, from what I remember, didn't have much of a choice to play youth, but I could be wrong about that.
You provided my reply for me. Who knows how good players are by judging U23 level. Look at how many premier league loanees we've had that couldn't hack it in the mens game.
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6616364/ very good watch. One morning in October 1988, Howard Wilkinson walked into history. History was Elland Road; the great football stadium in Leeds, built by the efforts of Don Revie; home to one of the ... See full summary »
