    Good Morning Everyone

56 days after play off misery, Leeds returned to action to face York City!

Goals from Roofe, Hernandez, Forshaw and a brace from man of the match Harrison saw the White run rampant at Bootham Crescent.

Will Guiseley provide a sterner test tonight? (7.45pm kick off)

Tyler Denton will become the fourth defender to leave Elland Road in just over a week.

The 23yo left back will follow academy starlets Aapo Halme and Lewie Coyle to resurrect their careers away from LS11. (The fourth player obviously is Jansson).

Have we let a future superstar slip through our fingers?

No sooner has the ink dried following Jansson's arrival at Griffin Park, than the Bees decide to sell surplus to requirements Ezri Konsa to Villa for 12m.

The talented England U21 central defender is certainly a face for the future, but to me it just echoes that Brentford made the signing of the Summer snapping up the Swede for 4m plus add ons!

    Agree?

According to the Belfast Telegraph, Leeds are keen to sign 15-year-old Linfield wonderkid midfielder Charlie Allen.

They will have to battle it out with Manchester City and Spurs

    Morning all...

We get all excited about future talent then release or sell them a bit too early for my liking, I’m very surprised we don’t give Coyle more of a chance.

A good win yesterday, we need to improve on last season and Harrison is one player who last season we wouldn’t of cared if he started or was on the bench, he sounded much improved yesterday.

Early days yet but with his performance yesterday and the urgency for Bielsa to secure him for this season you’d imagine he might be first choice for the wide left attacking position.

Looking forward to seeing what Costa can do tonight, 3-3-1-3 was the formation yesterday, it will be interesting to see if Alioski starts at LB or a more attacking role.

    Morning Ell and all.
Footy is back at long last, time alone will reveal if the powers that be are right over Pontus. Not overly interested in the kids at the moment it's the first team that I am interested in. One for the future, tomorrow sometime never.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Denton was shocking last season and was part of the reason Steve Evans was sacked. Evans bigged up Denton and he did actually start well, but was dropped quickly and then dropped from the squad and Peterborough even tried to send him back. So sorry but sometimes kids develop and then go backwards. Lewie Coyle has reached an age where his career needs to do something else. He would never get in the present U23 as a RB and to be fair development football isnt what he needs. He has done fantastic at Fleetwood, they love him and so he is now doing his 3rd loan spell which ends at Xmas, but I have no doubt we have made it easy for him to leave at Xmas and join Fleetwood full time. Pointless being precious about the Academy as some make it but many more dont,

Leaving us before the end of next week are:

    LDB
    Denton
    Ideguchi
    Ekuban
    Anita
    Sacko

LDB will be player number 20 and all 6 go by either released or sold like ideguchi, Ekuban and Sacko

I think the fee for Pontus is what's sticking in most people's craw, especially when it looks like they are selling a 21 year old, done nothing to Villa for £15m.
So then we have to wonder, why did no one else come in for Pontus?
Denton didn't look great the few games he played for us a few years back and was a complete failure last season so no surprise to see him gone.

We have signed one player and we fly out tomorrow to oz. There i have summed our pre season up its pathetic. New players should have been in place weeks ago. I have a very bad feeling about all this non activity.

I did hear the other day that the club were hopeful of making 2 signings before the trip to Oz, doesn't look likely now, unless they pull them out of the hat today.

Morning all. To be honest, not remotely interested in the under age squads at the moment. Its only a kind of puppy farm anyway. Sell the decent ones if theyre worth anything and do away with the rejects wherever you can and as quickly as possible. Little or no benefit to first team squad. As for these pre season run outs giving any indication as to where the squad is at <doh> The game against scum might tell a story. Of course, if beaten we can say its only a friendly, if we win we can predict promotion and relax that the powers that be have everything under control

Gary Cahill coming to ER is becoming a realistic possibility...

You have to look back when we bought Pontus, not playing, not wanted, trouble. We've been walking on egg shells trying to accommodate him, can you imagine if we still had Cellino as owner and Pontus had barged past him like he did at QPR,turned up late last pre season, so wasn't ready for the start of the season, ffs we pay his wages. No one is bigger than the club, but Pontus thought he was.

That's how we should be performing against a bunch of part-timers, I doubt York City players train as extensively as our lads do, they probably have other day jobs.

Leeds have a habit of making weaker opposition look good

Lets see if we perform as well in the cup competitions v lower league sides, it's about time we did !

The main fact is we looked very fit & sharp which gives us high hopes for the coming season

Definitely was a friendly match worth watching from a Leeds perspective

Denton had a decent game at Luton & was ok at Cambridge in the cup games, probably stood out because we had a poor side then. So many young players show initial promise then fade into oblivion

Casey, Struijk & Hosannah are showing much promise, only time will time tell whether they are good enough for high level competitive football

Cellino would have probably swapped Jansson for a bag of magic beans

    Steal of the century !

I don't care what anyone says about Brentford were the only club to offer us £5m, truth is we've chucked £5m plus down the drain, money we haven't got apparently

Brentford top management are obviously very shrewd businessmen

Probably because clubs were unaware he was on the market, us fans & various transfer sites didn't realise Pontus was up for sale.

Jannson's Mrs wanted to live in London which minimised the options to the likes of Reading, Fulham, QPR & Brentford.

Pontus like myself rates forward thinking Brentford as they have always played with style of late, their ambitious management convinced him they were building a defence around him to match their attacking prowess. Also the bees are due to play in new built stadium in the next year or so taking all that in account it appeared an attractive appealing move to the best CB in the championship.
