Good Morning. It's Monday 8th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

    Bamford plans MLS move

Following his Elland Road release, former England international Patrick Bamford is set to resurrect his career across the pond. According to journalist Alan Nixon, the striker has identified the United States as his preferred destination for a fresh start, a move that could see him follow in the footsteps of former teammate Mateusz Klich.

Despite interest from Wrexham, Middlesbrough and Celtic, the 32yo was unable to secure a contract this summer, and has decided to try his luck with the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez. After struggling with persistent injuries and inconsistent form, the opportunity to become a focal point for an MLS club could be the perfect catalyst to resurrect his career.

While the league is sometimes seen as a place for stars to wind down, it could offer him an ideal environment to regain his fitness and confidence. If Bamford can shake off his injury woes, his intelligent movement and finishing ability could make him a formidable force in the American top flight, proving he still has plenty to contribute in the latter stages of his career.

    Oxlade-Chamberlain still on Leeds radar

Despite assurances from managing director Robbie Evans that Leeds would steer clear of the free agent market, they continue to find themselves linked with former Liverpool and England star, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Daniel Farke is reportedly monitoring the 32yo's situation closely, following the closure of the main transfer window, viewing him as a potential high-reward, low-cost gamble.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is a free agent after departing Besiktas this summer. His two year spell in Turkey generated mixed reviews, yielding 5 goals in 38 appearances. Now seeking a return to English football, the versatile midfielder is attracting interest from Leeds, Everton and Birmingham City.

While his recent fitness record presents a valid concern, Oxlade-Chamberlain's pedigree is undeniable. With 235 Premier League appearances and extensive Champions League experience from his time at the highest level, he could bring a wealth of quality and a winning mentality, making him an intriguing prospect for clubs willing to take a chance.

    Joseph gamble paying dividends

Early indicators show Mateo Joseph’s bold gamble to force a move away from Leeds is already paying handsome dividends, as the young striker is experiencing a revitalising fresh start with La Liga outfit Mallorca. Frustrated by a severe lack of first-team opportunities under Daniel Farke—evidenced by a mere 199 minutes of action in the entire second half of last season’s Championship campaign—the 21-year-old took decisive action.

Following his return from the U21 European Championships, Joseph went on strike, refusing to travel for the club's pre-season tour of Germany, opting to train alone at Thorp Arch, to force a move. That determination has been swiftly vindicated on the Balearic Islands. Joseph has been immediately integrated into his new side, impressively surpassing his previous minute tally in just three league fixtures by amassing 200 minutes of game time.

This immediate involvement is a significant vote of confidence from new manager Jagoba Arrasate, who has entrusted the forward with a key role despite still carefully managing his match fitness. For a player who craved a new challenge and consistent minutes, this move has provided a crucial new lease on life, offering him the perfect platform to develop and prove his worth at the highest level.

Morning all. Hopefully I’m wrong but I’ve a feeling Bamford is all but done and with the lack of interest in him even as a free it appears most clubs feel the same. A 32 year old that I doubt has been able to play 90 minutes for last two seasons. MLS as a last resort might happen

Don’t understand how/why we’re still seeing transfer rumours when we’ve got a 25 man squad unless Meslier isn’t actually counted but I’m pretty sure I saw something the other day to suggest he had been counted.

According to the latest data from Transfermkt. Leeds have a squad of 26 so assuming some are academy kids, otherwise how do Chelsea have a squad of 32,, Forest 29, City 27, , Brentford 31, Sunderland 36, Burnley 33…..

Under 21s don’t count so Sam Chambers is our 26th. You have to register a 25 man squad for the season excluding under 21s.

Joseph, although playing games, is getting very average reviews from fans. They certainly dont see him as the messiah

Another one we won’t get money for cause we’ve overhyped then. Hopefully he starts to pick up to have a decent asset on our books.
