Good Morning. It's Monday 7th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds emerge victorious in Seven goal thriller

Leeds came from 3-1 down, to overpower a spirited Bournemouth side, inflicting a fourth consecutive defeat on the South Coast outfit. Leeds started brightly, and were ahead after just 3 minutes. Summerville's surging run was unceremoniously ended when he was clipped in the box. Rodrigo stepped up, and added his seventh of the season.

Leeds lead only lasted four minutes. A long diagonal ball released wing-back Fredericks down the right channel. His forward ball gave Billing the time and space needed to deliver a speculative cross into the Leeds penalty area. Koch inadvertently flicked the ball into the pathway of Tevernier, who drilled the ball past Meslier to level the game with less than 10 minutes on the clock.

Billing turned from provider to goalscorer for Bournemouth's second on 19 minutes. Tevernier latched on to Senesi's long, over the top ball, allowing the Leeds born winger to cut inside, before testing Meslier's resolve. The rebound fell kindly back to Tevernier who tee'd the ball up for Billing, who smashed the ball into the top upright, and take the lead.

The visitors could have extended their lead further, but a smart save from Meslier and some wasteful opportunities saved Leeds blushes. The half-time whistle couldn't come quick enough, and when it did, a chorus of boos echoed around Elland Road. The visitors started the second half on top, and took what seemed to be an unassailably two goal lead. A terrible Leeds corner was cut out, and soon Tevernier was once against released on the counter-attack. His low cross into the box was flicked past Meslier by Solenke, leaving Jesse Marsch just shaking his head.

Sam Greenwood mounted a Leeds Utd comeback on the hour mark with a 25 yard screamer, followed eight minutes later when Greenwood's corner was nodded home by Captain Cooper. This set up a tense final twenty minutes, during which time Bournemouth were starting to feel the effects of the match. Leeds winner came six minutes from time. Cooper cut out Lewis Cook's free kick, as the ball fell kindly to Gnonto. The Birthday boy sprinted from one end of the pitch to the other before releasing Summerville who was one on one with Travers (the Bournemouth keeper). The Dutchman kept his composure to fire home from close range following Gnonto's sublime pass giving Leeds their second victory in as many games, as they surged up the league to 12th, with a game in hand over most of their opponents.

    Who saved who

Good fortune has shone over Leeds Utd in the last couple of games. Wasted opportunities from opponents, fine goal keeping, and last gasp winners have kept the Whites above water. Many disgruntled fans feel that the Leeds youngsters have bailed Jesse Marsch out in the last few games, but is this really the case?

Like it or not, but Marsch's substitutions have been spot on recently, and probably saved them from defeat. Marsch has given the likes of Summerville and Greenwood their opportunity to shine; a trait barely seen during Bielsa's tenure, even after injuries took their toll. New signing Gnonto, has more than played his part too. His passing and link-up play has been exemplary, he causes defenders problems by drawing them out of position, and his pace is electric.

    Orta mocks ER faithful

Leeds Director of Football Victor Orta has apologised for his antics following their last gasp 4-3 win over Bournemouth on Saturday. The passionate Italian was filmed mocking the Leeds faithful, giving them a taste of their own medicine. Upon the final whistle, he turned towards the West Stand and started chanting back to them 'sack the board'. As you can imagine, this didn't go down too well.

In a statement to the YEP, Orta revealed he has been on the receiving end of abusive phone calls after his mobile number was distributed:-

“I would like to say sorry for my reaction after the game yesterday,” . “I don’t want to make excuses, but in the end I am human. “The past few months have been very difficult for everyone at the club. I have been subjected to a lot of abuse in person, in writing and via phone calls, after my number was deliberately given out last month.”

“I love and respect Leeds United fans,” "The atmosphere at Elland Road and across the country at every game is incomparable and has helped us to get over the line on many occasions, I thank the fan base for that. I will be sure to try to keep my emotions in check in future.”

“The past few months have been very difficult for everyone at the club. I have been subjected to a lot of abuse in person, in writing and via phone calls, after my number was deliberately given out last month.”

Morning all. Totally agree with you there ellandback. Gnonto for me is the signing of our season. Cant believe he is only 19 and plays like that. Its no wonder he is in the Italian squad. I do think that most of the new singings this year have been good. Adams another stand out. All we need now is to finally get a effing Left Back, although we've all been saying that now for a fair few years to say the least!

I still personally dont think Ted is the manager for us though, but it does seem that his subs were good choices as you say. I do still think he is clueless and totally out of his depth though. Lets face it we would all be talking about him getting the sack again if we'd not turned around that game, and credit where credits due, the team pulled out a second half performance that was no expected after seeing that shower of **** show they did in the first half. My nerves (and nails) cannot cope with these types of games. Why cant we just go and comfortably win a game for a change? Oh, wait, that wouldnt be the Leeds way! :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Seems to me that the general consensus among fans is that we are **** when we lose and lucky when we win.

Maybe Victor has a point when he takes the support to task over their recent attitude to the club.

Morning all i saw the Orta video last night and thought what a daft sod. But after his explanation as to why he was wound up i thought fair enough. To me he has released a statement as to why his emotions ran away with him. No need to apologise it was handbags anyway.
As for the first half shyte show it was the same tactics leading to our downfall. I think Liverpool had enough chances to bury us and we got lucky. Meslier once more on Saturday saved a certain goal by coming out and using his body well.If that had gone in we would have lost.

The club should have released a statement condemning ortas abuse. Kinnear to me is hopeless and weak. He just stood behind him with a silly smile.

Absolutely correct re the first half performance and not learning lessons.

Re liverpool though, depends what your definition of lucky is. We more than held our own for 70 minutes and they built up a head of steam at the end. If that was lucky, were we unlucky in all the games we had more good chances than the opposition - even leicester where we were terrible but had more shots on target and chances than them.

As for Meslier coming out of his goal to make a save to stop a certain goal? Most saves stop a certain goal. That's his job. And if he'd done it earlier rather than let an 80 yard through ball almost reach his 6 yard box, he'd have stopped their second. But then if palace's keeper hadn't stopped a certain goal from bamford at 1-0 etc. Ifs and ands...

We can all point to some terrible decisions the board have made, including Orta, but begining to think the worst thing Orta has done is to allow Alioski to leave. I remember Orta was begging Alioski to stay but he wanted more money and a long contract. At the time I agreed with Orta but what would have happened if Alioski had stayed. He was at least as good as Firpo and Struijk as a LWB and we wouldn’t have had the debate for 2 seasons about needing a LB. He always weighed in with a few goals too?

The first season back in the Premier League it was clear to see that Alioski at LB was the weak link. The club were right to let him leave. The club got it wrong with Firpo as his replacement and then doubled down on that mistake by not getting a left back for this season.

I'd expect a new striker and a left back incoming in January although if Gnonto steps up I can see the club letting the striker saga continue until the summer.

There's a big rebuilding job to do with this squad next year including a brand new pair of centre halves with three of them heading out the door.

    Afternoon all,

For me the last two games have saved Marsch for the season, disregarding a move to Southampton.

The players clearly like him and give their all for him. I think this will be enough to keep us up this year under him but I still don't think he is good enough for a long term project and can't see us improving under him.
