Good Morning. It's Monday 30th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Rampant Leeds click into gear Leeds produced arguably their best performance of the season at the weekend, in front of a sell-out 36,625 crowd, thumping Coventry City 3-0. The Whites finally did that they had threatened to do all season, and dismantled their visitors in style. The cogs were turning in unison; they were creative going forward, solid at the back and showed a purpose that up to this point had been sadly missing. Even after Ampadu limped off on 41 mins, Leeds continued to bully the Sky Blues into submission. His replacement, Tanaka, a £2.9m last minute Summer signing from Dusseldorf looked more than assured in the Leeds Utd midfield. It was the first team Leeds had eleven players, all from different nationalities on the pitch at the same time! By this point the hosts were already one-up thanks to Gnonto's exquisite 16th minute opener. His first time effort flew past Wilson before he could even react, using the pace of Firpo's cross as leverage! By the time the half-time whistle came, Leeds could have been four up. Fine saves from Gruev, Ramazani and Joseph had kept Mark Robins side in the game; that is until the 49th minute when Bogle got in on he act. His one-two with Ramazani split the visitors defence wide open, and the former Sheffield Utd man took full advantage. Leeds made it three with ten minutes left on the clock. Tanaka's delightful over the top diagonal ball found Gnonto deep down the right channel. Unselfishly, he squared the ball to Piroe (a 70th minute change for Ramazani) who grabbed his third of the season from close range. please log in to view this image Writing on the wall for Bamford For the second game running Patrick Bamford has been an unused substitute, prompting speculation that his ER days could be coming to an end in January. The 31yo is yet to kick a ball since retuning from his latest in a long line of injuries, taking the bench against Cardiff City. It's difficult to argue with the stats. Not only have Leeds scored five goals without reply, but we've seen players like Ramazani taking their defensive responsibilities seriously - something rarely seen by Bamford, even during Leeds stint in the Prem. He has 22 minutes of game time under his belt this season, but with a 28.6% pass rate and miserable 6.06 Whoscored rating, is it time for Leeds to let go of the one time England forward, and perhaps encourage a move to the Saudi League, or will his experience later on this season become invaluable? please log in to view this image
Morning all Joseph is playing well, Piroe comes on and takes his chances, no reason why Bamford should be playing at the moment
Morning all What crap weather you can tell Winter is now kicking in. From what I saw of thew game on Saturday before my youngest stole the remote and stuck on Youtube that was the best we've played all season. I'm surprised the score wasn't a lot higher on our end. Largie is damn good player. I was a bit sceptical we could replace Summerville but damn we have. As for Paddy. I think the writing has been on the wall for a couple of windows but let's face it our hierarchy are so slow to move on things it laughable. The question is if we get rid of Bamford who the hell so we get. Is their somebody in the German League that Farke fancies or are we gonna go for Josh Sargant? We all know Farke like to shop in Germany.
Well I must admit I fully enjoyed our very professional approach and execution of a very mediocre Coventry side, are they mediocre or were we just too powerful in all departments for them, I must admit I had Coventry down as a threat this season, last season they looked useful and thought they may of built on that. Some pleasing factors that I saw was the amount of work Joseph gets through is immense, he holds the ball up well, brings players into the game, just needs to finish a bit better. Ramazani is starting to settle in nicely, his movement off the ball is encouraging and his ball control is very good, missing Summerville…. don’t think so. Tanaka is another plus in my eyes, his distribution, tenacity and what I call a pest to the opposition in the sense he is snapping at them when they get the ball, very encouraging, did a young Archie Gray do all that after little game time, answer is no, so all in all it was excellent business done on the sale of them two players, in fact I think we are stronger. Big test coming up this week let’s see where we are Friday evening at 10pm.
Luca Thomas in the u21s got another 2 goals. He could easily take Bamfords place as third or fourth place striker at this level.
Afternoon all from a very warm and sunny Spain. Thought it was a good performance but felt we lost midfield a bit when Ampadu went off and actually according to the BBC website this was one of the few games where we had less possession than the opposition (not that possession is the be all and end all). I’m really hopeful that as the signings bed in we can go on a winning run and put some daylight between us and the rest.
This is what worries me about having small squads. A couple of injuries and we're struggling to fill the match day squad with senior players. Amps is the 4th player to be injured this season alone. How many U21 players can well call up. We should have signed an extra CB at the end of the last month,
Always obvious over 60 games or whatever we’d pick up plenty of injuries just like every team. No point in moaning about them when they come when we start to run out of replacements. Suspect most other squads will be worse off than us when they’ve five or six out
Bloody Hell, he tried to run it off and said to Farke he doesn't think it is serious when he came off, I would hate to know what a serious injury is then. Look on the bright side, he will be like a new signing in January
Could conceivably be longer. Was listening to Danny Murphy on talkSPORT talking Rodri and cruciate ligament injuries. He said you initially feel that surging pain, then adrenaline (or whatever) kicks in so you think it’s not as bad as you first thought so you try to run iit off. Pain kicks in again the minute you try to turn etc. if it’s not his anterior ligament then he could be gone for the season. Ten weeks suggests it might be.
great one player we will miss. I bet we dont see him till after the new year now. that news has proper pizzed on me chips.
Bit like Eire, we have to expect stuff like this. We’ll miss him, but trying to look at potential positives he should be in fine fettle, come the run in. It gives Tanaka and Rothwell greater opportunity to get game time, nice to see how they bed in. I’d be more worried if it happened to one of the CB, with Wober (the rat) having had an op.
