Good Morning. It's Monday 26th August, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines Leeds destroy sorry Stoke Leeds breathtaking form continued as they tore apart Stoke City at the weekend. Goals from Dallas, Alioski and Bamford secured the three points and kept Bielsa's men top of the Championship. Only fine saves from Potters shot stopper Federici kept Costa, Forshaw and Shackleton from piling on more misery! When Douglas returns from injury, who would you prefer to see at left back? Douglas or Alioski? Same question when Ayling finally resurfaces! What happens with Dallas? Does Nketiah deserve more game time? Same question regarding Costa? Phillips wage demands reach a crucial stage It has become clear over the weekend that contract talks between Kalvin Phillips and the club have reached a crucial stage. If paper talk is to be believed, Phillips is asking for £40,000 a week. If the club agree, our Talisman will sign a new contract! I'd probably give Phillips the £40k a week, if that's what it takes to keep him but if possible I would pay the increase to him when we get promoted. Then negotiate another contract for the Premiership. It's not going to happen but it would be good to give a little motivation for staying focused until the end.
Morning all Didnt get to see the game but saw the goals and read the reports. Bamford never mind scoring goals is working his socks off and dragging players around to make space as well as creating chances. Be nice if he made more of his chances as 40% isnt great, but great start to the season and a kick in the arse for the knockers. Fast Eddy knows he needs to wait behind Bamford, just like Costa is having to do. Yes Bielsa will at some stage try both together and we still have Stoke in the Cup so suspect Costa and Eddy will start. Douglas has been great so would drop him back in at LB but great position to be in having Alioski. Who works best for Harrison and I think its Douglas. Ayling was great for most of last season but Dallas has been flying and Ayling will have to do something special to dislodge Dallas for me. Dallas, Bamford, Kiko, Douglas, Harrison, Forshaw were all players who many had written off so can we try and leave selection to Bielsa?
Good Morning to Matt and cofrom a warm sunny Bardsey Well done to Ben Stokes who singlehanded beat the Aussies at Headingley the game reminded me of the 1981 Botham gamelets get at em now I am really pleased with the performances so far and I must say White has been outstanding Forshaw has been a revelation too We shall now know after sat how good we are when we play Swansea who are joint top with us Stoke on Tues will give the reserves a chance to shine I would not pay Phillips 40k a week we can't afford it
Morning all... If we do not get promoted this season then we will more than likely lose Phillips and Bielsa. We can't afford for every player who is valued by Bielsa to go in and demand £40k a week so I think we need to agree something in principle, maybe a one year extension based on league position or reviewed in January. Phillips is absolutely vital in a Bielsa team and I really dread the thought of what we might become if we do not go up this season. Douglas over Alioski for me, I like having Alioski on the bench he gives us lots of options, Douglas on the bench just the one at LB Usually I'd say Dallas on the bench for the exact same reason but Ayling will need to get fit and wait his chance and if Dallas remains fit that could be a very long time coming. If we are still top of the league after the Swansea game and specially if we get the full three points then nobody deserves a chance ahead of the players who got us there. I know we will get injuries and Eddy and Costa will get their chance, I just hope they don't piss Bielsa off with a bad "I should be playing" attitude before that chance arrives.
Kalvin is a tough one as it's an investment in keeping him if we get to the premiership as lets face it if we don't go up this year then we're more than likely selling him anyway. He will have done his service and will be fair to let him have his shot at premiership and will give Bielsa's replacement some cash to start rebuilding the team. Paying him 40,000 for next 45 weeks will cost us probably about a 1-1.5 million more than currently but maybe that'll be worth more to his value for transfer than selling him in the summer with a year left on his contract? That's a ****ty thing to have to type on a sunny monday so lets just pay it to him, go up and keep him
Kiko is on £34k per week but we got him for free instead of paying around £12m for him. Bamford will cost us £10m and he is our highest earner on around £35k per week. Kalvin is seen as important as Bamford and Kikoso therefore he should be paid in the same range. We were offered £20m for him and rejected it so needs a pay rise. If we fail to go up we sell him and get the money back plus a huge sum more. Investment no brainer Roofe wanted the same as Bamford so was sold for only £7m as the club didnt want to do the deal because knew Roofe was not a Prem player
Morning all. The Phillips thing is a strange one. Several weeks back he was supposed to be signing a contract but still hasn’t been agreed. If Eddie, Bamford and kiko are worth 35k a week, Kalvin is too. He knows it and so does his agent. Give him his deserved pay rise
Give him the 40k on a 3 year contract with a minimum buy out of £25 million and he can go at the end of the season if we don't go up. If we don't go up then he can leave if his agent can find a buyer. If we don't go up but he stays then the wages drop to 25k a week. I'm sure all this has been discussed but a deal like the one above is more than reasonable. It all depends on his success or failure as a player.
Theres a great Bamford Parody account on twitter that cracks everyone up. Recently he said "Ah love the coach ride home after Victory and one of my screamers. Nothing like laying back with the slippers on sipping Champagne watching the commoner Kalvin and his Tizer.."
KP is a key player & should be paid what he's worth. He could quite easily have had his agent agitating in the close season when the silly bids came in, so he should be compensated for that loyalty at the very least. I also think that Radz is playing a clever game with him. Paying him that sort of money will go a long way towards justifying the high transfer fee that we'll be looking for, should it come to that.
