Morning all.. Dwight Gayle on a season long loan would be a nice early addition, if Roofe wants away Gayle is an ideal replacement. Still waiting for early official news that Bielsa is staying, the board know that this news would help heal the wound of missing out this season, not announcing it is becoming a bit of a concern that they cannot provide the assurances Bielsa is demanding. Maybe it’s less of who we can bring in and more of who we can keep that Bielsa is seeking those assurances over?
Dwight Gayle wants £55kpw so its a case of can we afford to pay one player nearly £3m per year and is he worth it compared to Bamford who is our highest earner but not even £20kpw. Yes I would love him at the club but it would probably cause more dressing room friction, Roofe is upset now because he feels he should be on the same as Bamford. Gayle is proven in this league and a top striker from overseas isn't but would be a fraction of the cost. I will jee what bielsa wants and agree with him. Whelan and Pontus could actually be a thing and I know Pontus says all the right things for the benefit of the fans, but in the last presser Pontus said 'he thought he was going to be the big man at the club until Bielsa arrived and now its all about the team. so take from that what you will, but we have 3 CBs in the 23s coming through so expect at least one to be a regular next season. Morning all. I dont mind if Pontus goes providing we get better. What I do resent is the slurring of his name beginning again. Same every time the club begins the sale process of any player. Hes been a great servant and couldve left last season if hed wanted. As I said, dont mind who goes once we get better in BEFORE we start the sales instead of scraping the bottom of a barrell afterwards
Pontus is a weird one. Remember last Summer when he was supposed to sign for that Russian Club? He shouted from every roof top that the club were trying to sell him without his consent, and that he did not want to leave Elland Road. I sincerely believe that Jansson will be discredited by many reports in the near future to make it easier to get rid of. Funny that on the 2nd leg v Derby presser, Bielsa said Jansson was the 'best player in the Championship' yet then left him on the bench. Strange one. I eould have partnered Jansson with Cooper together every day of the week, especially our most important game for over a decade!!! Somethings going on behind the scenes.
Something like that Eric but the difference is he has a value and we signed him on a free. Gayle would only be a loan because Newcastle don't want him in the prem but cant sell him. They would want around £10m for him and then the player expects another 33m per year.....
I would rephrase that slightly Doc to he had a value. Would be interesting to see what it is now and certainly not within an asses roar of 50k a week I suspect

Getafe President had already made a statement saying they were signing a top talent until the end of the season (same time as stage 1) before the LUFC publicity machine had got started! Stage 3 Slowest player in fitness test Stage 4 Saiz homesick / mental health problems. Wants to go back to Spain Stage 5 Announcement by Leeds journo's that Getafe were interested.
