Good Morning. It's Friday 26th November, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Liverpool spurned chance to sign Raphinha

Respected Soccer journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool wanted to bring Raphinha to Enfield in the Summer but Leeds were asking too much. Normally articles like this can be denounced as click bate, but the Italian has proven to be one of the more reliable sources involving transfer activity.

He claims that Leeds had slapped a 60m + price tag on Raphinha's head, which at the time wasn't seen as value for money by the decision makers at Anfield. Six months on, he is now a fully fledge member of the Brazilian national team, and his award winning performances for Leeds have caught the eye of all the major players in Europe. Surely we can add another 25m to the asking price now?

“I would keep an eye on the situation of Liverpool. They wanted him last summer. He was one of their targets.
“They wanted to sign a winger but it was impossible to sign him because Leeds wanted to keep him and the price was too high, it was more than £60 million. “I think the player is very special, so if Liverpool want to decide to go big for a winger in the summer, he could be one of the names. “The boy wants to be at a top, top level. It’s going to be an open race - but Liverpool are keeping an eye on this boy for a long time.”

Pundit predict 'comfortable' win for the Seagulls

Former player, now pundit Paul Merson has predicted a 'comfortable 2-0 win for the Seagulls this weekend. The former Arsenal and England star went on to say the Whites need to be more consistent.

“Leeds United were outstanding in the first half against Spurs last week, and I thought there was no way they were going to lose that game. They were poor in the second half, however, and need to be more consistent to move up the table,”

“Leeds are better than they were at the start of this Premier League season, but this is a hard game for them. Brighton have been impressive under Graham Potter and I’d back them to win this match comfortably.”

Are we playing Brighton at the right time

During their first eight Premier League games this season, Brighton conceded just five goals (0.6 per game) and faced a total of 21 shots on target (2.6 per game). Since then however, thier form has dropped. In their past four, the Seagulls have conceded nine goals (2.3 per game) and faced 23 shots on target (5.8 per game) which should give Leeds fans a boost.

On a downside, only Burnley (14) and Newcastle (12) have dropped more points from winning positions than Leeds (10) in the Premier League this season. It’s four more points than the Whites dropped in the whole of last season (six).

Ten years on - we remember Gary Speed

It's ten years tomorrow since the tragic death of Gary Speed, and even though the last decade has taken its toll, the memories of the former winger are still as vivid as ever. During his eight year tenure (twelve years if you count his time as a Junior) at Elland Road, he made 248 appearances, finding the back of the net 39 times. He went on to enjoy a twenty-two-year playing career before finally hanging up his boots in 2010.

After retiring, he went into Management. After a short stint at Bramall Lane, he was elected Manager of Wales, where he was making significant progress until the events of 27th November. We may never know the real reasons why Speedo took his own life, but surmise to say he will always be a Leeds legend!

    Morning all

    R.I.P Gary Speed a legend

I feel confident of a win to tomorrow, Brighton have had a huge dip in form.

It will be a sad day when we see Raphinha leave, he is so far ahead of Dan James it’s off the scale yet look at the transfer fees. If he left for £60m I’d feel robbed. The huge problem is, slap an £85m value on him and his agent would be straight in the office demanding a wage and contract that reflects this valuation.

    Morning all,

RIP Gary. My favourite player for Leeds as a 10 year old.

Was lucky enough to be at the next two games after his death. Forest away chanting his name for 11 minutes, the YouTube video of it still gives me chills. Simon Grayson coming over to the away end at the final whistle and pointing to the heavens broke me.

Home to Millwall and seeing Strachan, Batty and Mccallister together again and in obvious pain, I'm welling up now just writing about it.

I bet that's why Raph said no. Have you ever been to Enfield? :)

    RIP Gary Speed, legend.

This was back when tickets were easier to get. There were four of us who used to go regularly. One was a Liverpool fan and one was a West ham fan. Neither have ever seen their own team live but went to several Leeds games at that time as they loved being part of it.

They both still talk about being there that night. I can honestly say it was one of those moments I will always be able to say "I was there".

No other clubs fans could have done what we did that night and more. This was evidenced by our away trip to Newcastle in the league cup when both sets of fans agreed to recreate it before the "famous" toon army shut up after a minute.

The problem with Liverpool is that they have no money. Lets look at some facts over the last 2 seasons they have been quoted £70m for Traore and Wolves so dezzy to sell were quoted as offering him to us for £30m and still Liverpool didnt jump. This season they are supposed to have wanted Noa Lang and his price jumped to £50m (Lamg been shyt since) now Liverpool supposed to be chasing Bowen from WHU, they dont have a pot to piss in so Raphinha will not be going there. Yes he may well end up somewhere but it will be for a lot of money.

Gary Speed was everything Leeds Utd projected. A legend, a greatInternational footballer, an innovative manager who transformed Wales which was then trashed by Coleman and everyone else down to the very poor Rob Page. The kids at Wilkos academy ended up gracing all the top Prem teams for years and years, even Milners still around. Gary was loved everywhere he went after leaving Leeds, but somehow he couldnt believe itand struggled with it. RIP Gary
