Good Morning. It's Friday 26th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Huge sigh of relief as Archie given all clear

Teenage sensation Archie Gray has been given the all clear having undergone tests to ascertain the extent of the injury he sustained midweek, during Leeds 1-0 win against Norwich City.

The 17yo had to be helped from the pitch by members of Rob Price's medical team, whilst in obvious distress. It has since been disclosed by Farke that Gray was 'panicking' as he thought he had torn his ACL. Fortunately, the extent of his injury is little more than a knock to his knee.

He could be out of action for several weeks until the bruising and swelling goes down, but could be back in action for the visit to the Liberty Stadium mid February!

One week of the transfer window left

With only a week left until the transfer window slams shut, fans are starting to feel more than a little anxious with the lack of activity around Elland Road.

The squad have worked incredibly hard to get themselves into the mix of an automatic promotion place, yet senior management could gamble should Leeds suffer an injury crisis during the second half of the season to key areas of the pitch.

Leeds have a terrific starting XI, but lack strength in depth, especially after losing Ayling and Spence (as well as Gyabi) this month. It's a long, arduous and unforgiving campaign with over 50 matches in all competitions - therefor, the probability of long term injuries is a lot higher than the Premier League.

We have already seen Ipswich Town and Southampton strengthen this month yet Leeds continue their long tradition of leaving transfers to the very last minute, if at all!

Morning all. Great Archies is only a knock. He took fair abuse in Sundays game, presume Norwich game no much different. Decent size lad for his age in fairness. Was just thinking of all this hogwash about the pl being the bee all and end all. Did I enjoy Sundays match better than last seasons pl ones.? Did we celebrate Piroes last minute winner any less than a pl one? Most definitely. You bet we didn't. Elland Road was as wild when that penalty went in as a CL night. Id like to see us promoted of course but loving this seasons experience

Morning all, great news on Gray but clearly shows we are needing a couple of defenders as Archie will miss a couple of games and relying on Firpo staying fit and the likes of Shackelton covering fills me with dread. Byram is suspect to injury, anyone like to see Byram and Firpo as full backs starting?

In theory Firpo at age 27 is just coming into his prime and with over 100 top class appearances to his name in La Liga and the PL we're lucky to have him. We'll never know if he would have left in the summer, but there's been no noises about getting out in Janaury and he's fully committed to the club and playing well.

Oh and to any of the doubters (and there are many) we've just won the last 5 games on the bounce now Junior's back.

At this level he is decent, especially going forward were he believes he's a frustrated winger.... unfortunately he mars his performances by his reverse gears not working in defensive mode <doh>... but fair play at present he is certainly showing glimpses of his la liga days... perhaps the squad as a whole are on friendlier vibes now, personally think Mr Rutter has a lot to do with that <cheers>

Great post that OS & I think you are bang on about the team spirit, much closer to where we were with Bielsa before all of the mercenaries arrived :emoticon-0148-yes:

We won the last game because the opposition missed their chances. We missed more than them. I do not fancy our chances in the play offs.

I’m not surprised there has been no transfer activity so far for us, in truth I wasn’t expecting any. All the messages coming out of Thorpe Arch suggested little activity. It’s a difficult one, in that I’d like some more defensive cover, but finding the right person at the right price is difficult. Like Doc suggested elsewhere, how do you entice a player to join, when he cannot be promised game time. I like the team setup at the moment, and don’t see how anybody will force their way in just yet, other than for injury.
