Good Morning. It's Friday 23rd August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Ramazani has big boots to fill

Leeds have secured their fifth signing of the Summer, with former Belgium U21 Largie Ramazani joining the Whites from Almeria for a fee in the region of £10m plus a 15% sell-on clause.

He passed his TA medical, before penning a four-year contract. Unfortunately, the signing comes too late to participate against the Wendies tonight, as a work permit can take several days. He will have his work cut-out this season. Much will be expected from him, and he'll need to hit the ground running if fans are to put recent departures to the back of their minds.

Ramazani has made over 100 appearances for Almería, across both La Liga and the Segunda Division, adding versatility, firepower and vision to Daniel Farke’s side. Much of his attacking play will be coming from the left wing in his favoured inverted winger role.

He has been given the No17 shirt, recently vacated by Jamie Shackleton; I suppose the last thing they want to do is to heap pressure on him before he starts. Whilst Ramazani represents a decent signing, the club need to follow it up with at-least three or four more if they are to challenge for automatic promotion.

    Could calculated gamble pay-off?

Leaving their transfer business to the last minute is a massive gamble for Leeds Utd, but could it pay dividends

Leeds were long overdue a clear-out; they've had far too many players leeching off the club for far too long. They've wiped millions in monthly salary payments off their ledgers, and raised over £100m in fees.

Will the 49ers plan an all-out assault on a top-two finish, or will they be content for another play-off disaster. All of this will become evident in the next seven days. Many believe Leeds are still five players shy from making a realistic top-two bid, and have left it too late in the window to add the signings necessary, and to be fair, history supports this claim.

Daniel Farke has only 13 players that have played 20 or more senior games for the Whites. Whilst he still has players that most teams in the Championship would take in an instant, the heart has been ripped out of the team. Ramazani represents good business, but a drop in the Ocean to where Leeds need to be this time next week.

49ers only have a week to demonstrate their honesty. I don't believe they are asset stripping but they employed a top football management team in the DoF and his recruitment team. So far we haven’t seen the fruits of their labour, besides Bogle. Rodon was a fans fav and Rothwell is a stop gap loan. RamazaniI has still to prove he is a good replacement for Summerville and my hope is he can show himself as an upgrade on Summerville for half the money he was sold at. We have needed a LB for years and no excuse why still haven’t got one but the biggy is replacing Rutter. Not bothered if his replacement only costs £2m as long as he is a like for like replacement as it will show our recruitment team know their onions.

    Morning all.

The signing along with previous spends means we can put asset stripping to bed. We have too many irons in the fire for there to be no further signings.

Ramazani doesn’t need to be Summerville 2.0 he just needs to be himself, he’ll have different skills and be weaker and stronger in various attributes. Farke needs to get him playing to his strengths.

Farke was hasty in shipping out Ayling, Cooper and a few others, so only 13 with 20 or more games was his call. I personally don’t see it as a problem

Morning all. Couldn't care less about the asset stripping issue or who owns us. Only interest I have is sitting down mid October when season really kicks off and being able to say, great this team is as good or better than last years. Anything else and its a fiasco

    Good morning all
Ramazani looks a great signing on paper and you tube videos <doh>, however I will reserve judgement till after a few appearances, I just hope he is not another Aaronson a bit lightweight and easily knocked off the ball in the tough league which is the championship.

Team might be slightly better, slightly worse, the coach will be the same and that’s my only fear

To be honest Doc I think the selling of Rutter and Gray was good business, Rutter couldn’t cut it in the Prem, and Gray was not full back and just a mediocre midfielder, ok he is young but the club had to strike while the money was on offer, watched the other night…. made approx 6 passes sideways of less than 10 yds, rabbit in headlights springs to mind, maybe another Jack Clarke in the making? anyway not our property now so let’s move on.
New lad? know nothing about him but let’s be honest here Summerville went missing at critical times, so hope the new lad settles and becomes a gem.
Gnonto is best rid of, he is a rat will always be a rat and best shut of him, not healthy for the moral of the team.

The coach did not blow promotion last season the players did.

International break ****ed us. The Welsh lads came back dejected after losing the play offs. Roberts got injured just as he was pushing for a start. Rutter had a hernia op which his form never recovered from. Teams doubled up on Summerville and he couldn't find the answer.

Ironically, Rutter and Summerville didn't play well from Easter onwards. They were our 'quality' in the final third. Confidence took a hit and we slumped at the wrong time. I actually thought Farke played a blinder in the play offs vs Norwich and was tactically spot on.

Agree with all of that but the honesty has been lacking from the49ers. Replace any players we sell with like for like or better. Archie been gone for weeks, Kamara likewise, Summerville a couple of weeks and now a week since Rutter departed.
