Good Morning. It's Friday 19th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Gnonto's future expected to be Hammered out shortly Wilfred Gnonto's 17 month tenure as a Leeds player looks to be coming to an end, with multiple reports suggesting he is set to join West Ham. The 20yo has not been able to replicate his early form of 22/23, and has slipped further down the pecking order as time has gone on. He tried to force a move to Everton last Summer, and went on strike after his demands were not met. He quickly made up with Daniel Farke, and apologised for his actions, but his form continues to be mediocre at best, therefor it may be best for all parties concerned if he departs. A swap deal may be on the cards. Leeds are keen on contract rebel Ben Johnson. As a left back, he is highly thought of, but after only just getting rid of Djed Spence, do Leeds really need another disruptive influence in the dressing room? please log in to view this image Leeds linked with Luton reject Leeds have been strongly linked with a move for Ryan Giles, after news broke that Luton Town were amenable to letting him leave Kenilworth Road this month. The 23yo left back only joined the Hatters last Summer in a £5.2m move from Wolves. Prior to that, the Molineux prospect had been out on loan eight times. Nobody loves a good loan move than Leeds, but this one could have repercussions! It has been rumoured that Luton want an obligation to buy clause inserted in the contract, meaning Leeds would be stuck with him if the move doesn't work out. With ten clubs on his CV since turning pro in 2018, surely this will be an avenue even Leeds will not pursue! please log in to view this image Leeds contemplating loan move for Liverpool starlet Leeds are contemplating a loan move for Liverpool starlet Calvin Ramsay. The 20yo right back has just been recalled from his loan move at Preston, after managing just one start, and 132 minutes of game time for the entire season thus far! Leeds are light at right back after seeing Djed Spence and Luke Ayling depart this month. Although not a particularly exciting signature, he would at least provide cover should anything happen to Archie Gray! please log in to view this image
Ah the window that has done nothing yet except move a couple of players out. It’s good that the club seem to have accepted we need defenders and most of the ones mentioned I would be happy with. My problem is that our top DoF team of Hammond and Co you would have thought had a list and after 3 weeks we are 2 defenders down and zero brought in. Yes all could be different by the end of the month but thought it would have been best to get them in early and bring them up to speed. Gnonto can go for me best news I’m hearing is that we are trying to make Rodon permanent this month and that would open up yet another loan space. Does that then tie in with a couple of loan players coming in, Ryan for example, a winger in place of Gnonto, another CB in place of Cresswell?
I would imagine our recruitment team are doing exactly what they did in the summer, working quietly on bringing in quality and outsmarting all of the clickbait wannabes in the process Morning all
Morning. As always, negotiations don't occur in the public gaze. Just because we've heard nothing doesn't mean nothing is happening. All the ins and outs are based on 'sources' and anonymous 'Leeds are said to be...'
You are not wrong. I’ll be amazed that by the end of the window we’ve not filled the LB position at the very least. Patience is a virtue and all that.. Morning all!
Oh and don't forget Struijk played left back a lot of last season. Heldje anyone ? Do I hear Shackleton from the back
We need a couple of quality players that can play a variety of positions. I hope we get David Brooks and a versatile defender. I'll be happy with that!
Feyenoord are preparing a big money bid for Neco Williams, so perhaps Forest will part with him if the money is right!
Sounds good to me elland. Of course some think if a player is versatile then we're square pegging, but just look ay how many different roles Stuart Dallas can/could play
Not all players are versatile and because Farke hasn't deviated from playing DJ as a right winger we're now seeing a very good player as a result of playing consistently in his best position. There's also room for improvement as in lots of games we're seeing the space in behind for James to run into and our defenders are reluctant to play the longer pass which might result in loss of possession.
Yes, the Forest Chairman addressed all his players recently to keep them in the loop of their FFP situation... please log in to view this image
