Good Morning. It's Friday 15th December, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Should Leeds be aiming higher than Charlie Taylor

The Whites desperately need a left wing-back, a defensively minded (preferably left footed) player with pace, to bomb up and down the left channel, pump in a few crosses and help with the build up play. Is that too much to ask? Seemingly so!!!

It's been an area of weakness for Leeds ever since Charlie Taylor left the club in the Summer of 2017, but, six and a half years on, he may be on his way back to Elland Road! The 30yo has been linked with a January move back to his boyhood club.

It's fair to say that Burnley have seen the best years from the former England U19 defender, and would now be willing to let him go, so that they can can buy an upgrade. If he's not good enough for Burnley, do Leeds really want their cast offs?

The Whites have as many points after 21 games as Burnley did last season; the only difference is that they didn't have to contend with the unprecedented form of Leicester and Ipswich. Should Leeds be aiming higher, or do they need to cut their cloth accordingly, now they're in the Championship?

Hull winning race for Gelhardt's signature

A host of Championship clubs including Ipswich Town have enquired about the services of Joe Gelhardt, according to Transfer expert Alan Nixon.

The 21yo forward has fallen down the pecking order at Elland Road, but could get his season back on track, with a preferred move to local rivals Hull City. The Tigers see themselves as play-off contenders, and are keen to add more firepower to their team. They're currently seventh in the Championship, but are looking to go one better come May.

Joffy has amassed just 164 minutes of game time so far this season, but a sustained run of first team football could very likely see a return of form for the former England youth player.

    Arronson to return in January?

Union Berlin could cut short Brenden Aaronson's loan spell, according to leading German tabloid 'BILD'.

The 23yo is about as popular as a Just Stop Oil protest, and has received no end of abuse from the back pages of the German press. Not only do Nenad Bjelica's side now face an unexpected relegation battle, been they've been dumped out of the German Cup and finished bottom of their Champions League group with just two points.

According to BILD, Union Berlin may cut their losses, and send Arronson back to Elland Road next month:-

"[Manager Nenad] Bjelica will certainly demand new players in January to establish his more attacking style of play," the report states. "It is questionable whether [sporting director Oliver] Ruhnert will go along with new signings. That would be an admission that the squad is poorly put together. It's also possible that loan players like Brenden Aaronson or David Fofana will leave early - because they haven't impressed."

    Morning all.

Not sure why a player on full salary would want to come back to Leeds to face a 50% pay cut when he couldn't wait to get out in the first place.

In the unlikely event of Aaronson coming back, I for one will be ok with that. He was already coming to Leeds to play for Bielsa, deal was done before Marsch got the gig. Bielsa wanted him because he wanted him to play the role he had for Connor Galagher who turned us down. FarkeBall is similar in some respects to Bielsaball and in ghis league he could be a season changer for us and him. Fingers crossed

Morning all. AAronson in the Championship, you're having a laugh. He spent his time in pl falling over, diving whatever you want to call it, He wouldn't last ten minutes of a game in Championship. Anyway I thought all our rats had to stay away for the season. Did he get a different loan deal

The players that left early like Aaronson probably see it differently and thought they were helping the club by getting their huge salaries paid elsewhere <whistle>

Really helping of course would have been to man up, take their deserved 50% wage cut and fight to get the club back to pl as they were responsible for relegation<ok>
Too much to ask of the modern footballer I know

Putting aside the fact that Aaronson's a rat I'm flabbergasted that just about everyone thinks he wouldn't improve us on the pitch, as he most certainly would. The fact he can play a multitude of positions, aligned with his fantastic duracell bunny engine would make him a great asset to have at our current level.

Well under the new rules from FIFA on the Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (doesnt apply to domestic transfers or loans) adopted in July 2022, the club the player is loaned to has to enter into a written contract of employment. If the loan is terminated early, then BA could take UB to tribunal for breach of contract.

In addition under the same rules, if a loan contract is terminated early, then we as the parent club have to take the player back and integrate him into the club, under the same terms and conditions of his contract, at the time that he was loaned out.

Paragraph 5c of Article 10 of the above regulations also says that where either a player or club he was loaned to, terminates the loan contract, then we, as the parent club would be entitled to compensation, that at a minimum covers the players salary from the date he is re integrated with ourselves, to the end date of the previously agreed loan contract.

So if UB terminate BA's loan, at a minimum they would have to pay us sufficient monies to cover the contracted salary payments we have to make to BA from the date he returns to the club, until the end of the season.

Loan between different football associations are not treated the same as domestic loans, in that the loanee club is allowed to terminate the loan agreement without permission from the parent club (ie in this case ourselves). However, we dont lose out financially. They still need to cover his salary and nor do they get any refund of any loan fee paid

We've had a few months now of people thinking the current team is much better than last year's. I don't think it bears scrutiny. We're currently 3rd in the championship alongside 2 other sides that were relegated last year... who also cut their cloth accordingly. The equivalent promotion winning sides from the championship last year sit at the bottom of the premiership.

The side we had at the start of last year played football most (well most Leeds fans anyway) found unattractive, but were rarely actually outplayed in the premier league - they just had a remarkable capacity for self destruction. In terms of chances created, chances conceded, xg etc - they were a mid to lower-mid table side. Luton, Burnley & Sheff utd are bottom of every stat going. That's the difference in the leagues.

Doubt it... I'm envisaging Lord Jamster with a glass of claret, directing his fleet from a comfortable chesterfield.

FARKE has said he would be open to Aaronson coming back and would be a big boost. Wonder if there is truth in this?
