Good Morning. It's Friday 14th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Bamford needs more game time to improve his sharpness

Speaking ahead of Sunday's clash with League leaders Arsenal, Head Coach Jesse Marsch believes once Patrick Bamford is match fit, he'll start banging in the goals again. Can the 29yo can be excused for being a little ring rusty? Last season, he only accumulated 560 minutes of game time; whilst this term, he already has 255 minutes under his belt.

Marsch admits that whilst his first choice hitman is in good physical form, but needs more game time, to improve his sharpness in front of goal. If this is the case, what about Joffy? He's only had one start all season, and a total of 130 minutes of game time. How is he supposed to improve, when his opportunities are so limited. If Leeds finally bring in a forward in January, should Gelhardt go out on loan?

According to Marsch:- “So I thought, first of all, that Patrick's clearly physically in good form,” Marsch said when asked about Bamford’s performance on Sunday in south London. “So that's a big bonus and then we just need to keep getting him fully game fit and fully ready and sharp. "But in general I thought he was okay. I think on a day where he's a little bit sharper and fitter, you find the goal and I think he can be part of the solution moving forward to even more.”

LUFC Academy leapfrog Liverpool in rankings

In a new report published by the Training Ground Guru’s Academy Productivity charts, Leeds have jumped eight places in the rankings (from 16th to 8th), overtaking Liverpool in 10th place. Leeds have one of the most productive academy programmes in the Football league. If the data was judged purely on the number of Premier League players produced, they would be fifth.

The rankings monitor the number of England-qualified academy graduates who made at least one appearance in the Premier League, Football League or National League last season. Leeds have invested heavily in their Academy since Andrea Radrizzani bought the club back in 2017. Surely, it's only a matter of time until they unearth the next James Milner or Kalvin Phillips.

Orta to remain at Elland Road

Victor Orta looks certain to remain at Elland Road as Director of Football, after it was revealed that Chelsea are close to appointing Southampton's Head of Youth Recruitment, Joe Shields. Shields only joined the South Coast outfit during the Summer, making the move from the Emirates where he enjoyed much success.

Orta was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge to take on the role of Director of Recruitment, but it is believed the Spaniard showed little interest in the move, especially after both Marsch and Radrizzani publicly made it clear they wanted him to stay.

So why isn’t Bamford playing with the U21s?

Chelsea were never offering Orta a job ffs. Why would they. Can’t see Bamford ever being fit again and persisting with him could cost the club a hell of a lot more than a proper striker would in the long run

Agree with LoL Bamford needs to play for the U23s to get match fit and come off the bench for the 1st team if and when the selected striker fails. Last week putting Bamford in was a joke he didnt create anything, missed a simple strikers goal and really cost us the game. His best bit was chasing away from the defence and getting his shirt pulled in a pro foul that should have been punished more than a yellow. Still fuming about his performance and ghis week Sinisterra on the right Aaronson in at 10 Rodrigo at 9 and Paddy benched but Marsch will probably bench Rodrigo the guy who has scored 4 goals

I got a feeling Rodrigos hot streak has also ended Doc. I just don't think we will see that run of form from him again.

    Morning all <ok>

If he doesn't get to play in his strongest position without Bamford in the way, you're probably right

    Morning all.

    1) Stop making the same subs every week as it's a different game with a different set of circumstances and problems.
    2) Why are some of our players only fit enough to play for 60 mins ?
    3) Cease giving priority to senior players.
    4) Jesse do your talking on the pitch by getting results and show some class by not whinging.

Tough gig this weekend but let's give it our best shot.

    jammy…

    1. certain positions tire more with a high pressing game. Agree he’s making decisions based on fatigue not tactics. Maybe it’s a weakness in his formation/style that forces his hand
    2. See above
    3. Is it ok to remind you of this when you’re telling us our kids aren’t as good as some say they are.
    4. Yeh show some class and stop whinging Jammy… err Jesse

I've said my piece on Bamford so not much point in saying anything else about him. If we get anything out of this match it would a brilliant surprise, but we play a team full of confidence and like city are one of the form teams this season.<ok>
