Good Morning. It's Friday 14th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Can we afford to wait? Leeds haven't signed a central midfielder since Lewis Baker on loan during the Summer of 2018. The last permanent addition was Adam Forshaw 207 weeks ago. With just over two weeks left of the transfer window, do Leeds need to strengthen their squad (particularly in midfield) or can they afford to wait until the Summer to start the rebuilding process? Many clubs in the bottom half of the top flight have been significantly busier than ourselves this month. Whilst we can all agree that it's more difficult to find targets in January, are the club gambling with our top flight status by waiting? please log in to view this image Leeds in hot pursuit of Oldham starlet Leeds are closing in on Oldham Athletic defender Benny Couto, according to the Telegraph. Portugal-born Couto has broken through the youth ranks at Boundary Park this season, and become a first team regular. He is 18yo, and predominantly plays as a left back. A fee of around 1 m is expected to be enough to tie the deal up, with Couto expecting to be loaned straight back to Oldham to continue his development. please log in to view this image Rodrigo unlikely to feature at West Ham Leeds journalist Phil Hay has doubts whether Rodrigo will be fit enough to feature against West Ham on Sunday. The soon-to-be 31yo has been sidelined with a heel injury since the end of November, and will need to regain his fitness before Bielsa throws him back into the first team. Since arriving at Elland Road 18 months ago, Rodrigo has featured only 38 times, and has nine goals to his name. According to Hay:- “There was a bit of talk earlier in the week that Rodrigo might be ok". “But Rodrigo hasn’t played since the end of November so given Bielsa’s track record, it would be a little bit of a surprise to see him get bombed in straight away at West Ham.” it’s “pointless” trying to guess Leeds’ injuries until Bielsa’s press conference is held". please log in to view this image Duo sign professional deals Youngsters Kris Moore and Harry Christy have penned professional contracts at Thorp Arch. The pair have been in impressive form for the under 18's, and have both been rewarded with two and a half year terms. Centre back Moore has featured 14 times for Leeds’ Under-23s in Premier League 2 and has been named on the bench by Marcelo Bielsa for the first team three times this season. Shot stopper Christy has been first choice between the sticks for the under-18s, making 12 appearances this term. please log in to view this image
Morning all i have said my all on recruitment for this season. Never realised it was that long since we signed a midfielder.
Morning all Why the kid at Oldham? Well we need cover for Firpo and we dont have a LB in the 23s since we allowed Davies to go out on loan and sold Huggins. But unless we have another LB coming in it makes no sense because we need bodies now and buying this kid from a broken and skint L2 club and loaning him back is a joke
This is supposedly how much each club can spend versus ffp. Looks like Everton have some creative accounting to do.
Good Moaning all Well, the kid from Oldham is hardly gonna be a season changer, it’s about time Leeds gave out a statement of intent, rather than just (as it appears to me) keeping their fingers crossed, and all the injured lads suddenly are fit again to save this perilous season.
Let's face it, we haven't got the money, end of, simple. You can't spend what you haven't got, we've been down that road before and look where it took us. We're going to have to wait and see when players return from the treatment table and hope it all works out well.
The left back from Oldham is exactly what we need. 18 year old, cheap, first team experience, send back out on loan. This kid might not be ready for 3 or 4 years but Dallas is over 30 and I can't see Firpo staying for the next 5 or 6 seasons. We struggle at left back and it's a positive move for the future. Could save us many more millions further down the line. I'm shocked we've not gone for midfielders though. They are mostly in their 30's yet we only have Bate looking like he might break through. We are lacking badly centrally. We probably need at least two ready to go midfielders ideally now or at the very least one now and another in the summer.
Perilous? It's exciting I can't lose, I will be delighted if we stay up and hope we build on it. If we go down, still loads of big games and at least we will be able to get tickets again when the other "fans" decide it isn't their thing after all
Yesterday, Burnley sell Wood for £25m & then get tomorrow's match postponed due to a lack of players. Is it me or has the world gone mad???
Come the weekend, Dyche's bullies will be three or four games behind the majority of clubs. Always rather have the points, than games in hand.
You know where I am Matt, very kind of you to ask mate. Like you, I've been so busy on there, also extremely hectic work-wise
It’s not a bad idea though is it? We could flog some deadwood and get all games cancelled until Phillips is back. .. and it’s a get out of jail free card for radz to not sign any midfielders everyone’s happy
it’s a timing thing. If This story breaks at the end of the window after we’ve signed two top international midfielders and a utility 10/forward… and we’d all be talking about what a smart move it is .
Marcelo Bielsa has revealed that he wanted Cody Drameh to remain at Leeds United owing to their injury situation but the player pushed for an exit as he wanted to gain game time elsewhere.
Yep and on that note I hope we don't allow him back. I'd be fine if he said that he wanted to go out next season but to do it whilst we are short handed, in a relegation battle and he is getting game time in our first team it is a ****s trick. **** him.
I doubt it’s drameh himself. He’ll be doing what his agent tells him. He doesn’t give the impression he could go to the toilet by himself.
