Good Morning Everyone Bielsa has confirmed that both Alioski and Roofe are fit to play, and both will be included in the match day squad tomorrow at St Andrews. Roofe picked up knee ligament damage mid February against Swansea whilst the Macedonian Duracell bunny picked up an injury against Millwall last weekend. During the 10 weeks since he was first deemed to have fully recovered from the knee injury that robbed him of 13 months of his career, Leeds have spent £250,000 on Brown’s wages, equivalent to £27,000 per minute of senior football. Marcelo Bielsa also revealed at his media conference that Izzy Brown is fit to start. Leeds have spent £250,000 on Brown’s wages, equivalent to £27,000 per minute of senior football. Bearing this in mind, what changes (if any) would you make to the starting XI? Leeds published their accounts for the 2017/18 tax year yesterday. They made an operating loss of more than £4million for the tax year, having injected money into new signings, player wages, and scouting. The previous year had seen United come home in the black with profits of £976,367, but could not repeat such despite overall income rising by £6.6million to £40.7m. Managing Director Angus Kinnear, while penning the accounts, noted that the “worsened financial performance” was down to the investment, and things could have been a lot worse had Chris Wood not departed for Burnley for £15million. Combined player sales for the 2017/18 season came to £18.1m – a rise from £8.9m – while the club’s catering revenues rose from £3.9m to £5.2m. Additionally, £1.1million of the increased overall income was down to gate receipts, while merchandise sales accounted for £900k. On this day in 2000 we lost two of our own. Christopher Loftus and Kevin Speight were brutally murdered by knife wielding Turkish thugs on the eve of the UEFA Cup semi final between Galatasaray and Leeds Utd! As Christopher Loftus lay dying, a Leeds fan attempting to give him the kiss of life was set upon! Kevin Speight could have been saved if he had been given a blood transplant at the Taksim hospital. The doctors would not treat Kevin, as they were 'short on blood supplies'. At this time Peter Ridsdale had turned up at the hospital, and immediately sent his chauffeur to pick up more blood supplies. Unfortunately when he returned, Kevin had bled to death. The Turkish media blamed the Leeds fans. "Once more English hooligans, once more, blood," said the mainstream Hurriyet newspaper. Those killed were "attackers", it said. Looking back on the incident, should Leeds have gone ahead with the match? Did anyone here attend the game? What do you remember about that fateful night?
Morning Elland and all. Im sure someone will point out the 250k spent on Brown is a great investment for the future
Good Morning to Matt and co from a sunny Bardsey Brown perhaps we can knock it of the bill when we buy him fully fit I still believe he has a part to play before the season ends Good to see the return of both Alioski and Roofe. Now lets shut Monk up!
Heres another stat from yesterday, not really Leeds related but PL related. Victimpool paid agent 46m last season on agents fees. The highest in the PL. In that time they made just four signings. Thats a staggering average of 11.5m on agents per transfer. Any wonder football is heading down the pan
Morning all... I’m not surprised we’re spending more, when you compare Cellino having one coach who wasn’t even allowed his own assistant to Rads and the staff he has permitted Bielsa that’s not including Orta and the scouting network and the U23 coaches and investment it’s hardly surprising. Bielsa has made a few eyebrow raising decisions but we’re second in the league, and the majority of the time we’re playing outstanding quality football, if he is against putting Brown in I guess we have to continue to trust him. In regards to Roofe coming back in, every player who has returned (when out for more than a couple of weeks) has been required to play for the U23s first, if Roofe comes straight back in it shows how annoyed Bielsa is with Bamford missed chances.
I’ve always been against salary caps but I’d like to see it now, it works in Rugby Union, yes we lose a few good players to France but it prevents it becoming like the PL is now
Never marked you down as a WUM Eire. Brown cant wait to get back down south, show them how fit he is and try to push for a place in the coming 2019/20 season.
Only change I'd make from the team that started v Millwall Casilla for BPF Club accounts Club in a healthy state Galatasaray game Should have been postponed for at least a week No I didn't attend that game Felt extreme sadness for our two fans & their families/friends. No fan should go watch their beloved team & not return home
I’m only an amateur wum. The professionals have almost all left the building for one reason or another
Eire - agree that sort of money to agents is quite staggering, but I don't think it works quite like that by allocating the agents fees to just the 4 new signings. A club always pay agent's fees when re-signing existing players on renewed/longer term contracts. I know that the Puddle gave new enhanced contracts last year to Salah, Mane and Firminho - all of which would have attracted massive agents fees. There may well be other "re-signers" in that categorie apart from the 3 strikers, and all the player agents get a cut. Totally wrong in my opinion, but who the hell are we?
Apparently there is a move next week with pl clubs meeting to try force the players to pay the agents fees. Thats the way it should be. For example, Id like to know what our very own Saiz's agent earned for first bringing him to Leeds and then moving him back to Spain and now likely somewhere else. Is that three sets of fees well be stumping up. If it is, its ****ing disgusting in my opinion. Little wonder virtually clubs in our division are losing money
From that agent's fee table published yesterday, the money leaving the game to line their pockets is just obscene. I did note that we were bottom of the pile for feeding the bastards, but even a couple of million is atrocious given the plight of clubs lower down the leagues.
I don't have a problem with agents. My view is that you can have as many agents as you like - as long as you pay for them! That's the way it's worked very successfully in the showbusiness world for a long, long time. FIFA should be leading in eradicating the present situation. But then, they wouldn't get their cut, would they? Grrr.
you weren't bottom on spending on players and agents, just bottom of actually paying the money. plus isn't Warnock your no 1 mr 10% man
You're not taking into account agents also get paid when existing players sign new contacts. Payments from all clubs to agents should be banned, their clients should pay them not both
I believe Bielsa noted there haven't been any U23 games this week so Roofe couldn't come back in one.
