Good Morning. It's Friday 24th April, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Will Hernandez still be able to work his magic in the Premier League Since his transfer during in the Summer of 2016 (from Al-Arabi), Pablo Hernandez has been one of the most influential signings since Leeds fall from grace 16 years ago. The versaille Spaniard has been one of the first names on the team sheet since Garry Monk persuaded the former Swansea midfielder to put pen to paper! Four years on, at the grand old age of 35, Hernandez is still working his magic. This season alone, the he has been involved in 12 goals, and has netted 6 times, making him Leeds second highest goal scorer this season (alongside own goals). Most of us remember the sparkling displays from Gordon Strachan during his six year tenure between 1989 and 1995. He was 37 when Leeds released him to Coventry. Does Hernandez have another season, even two in him? If he stays, assuming Leeds go up, will he only play a cameo role, or will Leeds need his experience more than ever in the top flight? How would you compare Hernandez to Strachan? please log in to view this image Gary Neville - Season should be scrapped Soccer Pundit Gary Neville has told Sky Sports that he 'sees no way the Premier League can guarantee appropriate testing or maintain health and safety standards in the wake of the latest government guidelines' and believes the season should now be scrapped. The former Manchester United defender full back went as far as saying that he does not believe that any football will take place this year. Neville told Sky Sports: “It feels like a parallel universe. I have meetings with our two hotels, where we’re being told that people won’t be able to sit within two metres at restaurants, capacity will be down to 50 per cent. “Then you go into a meeting an hour later on football where they’re talking about players playing football, jumping for headers against each other, and you think well, hang on a second, I’ve just been in a meeting where we’re told you can’t even have people sitting at a table without being two metres apart. "It just doesn’t work. I thought a month or two ago that football could continue, that we could get behind closed doors, but now I’m very, very doubtful the more I hear, the more I listen. One thing is, an employer cannot put an employee at risk based on health and safety grounds, there will be a liability issue for employers. “As a Salford City owner, I’ve got players who have potentially got diabetes, asthma, am I going to put them on the field and risk their safety for a game of football? The answer is quite simply no. I’m not sure how Premier League clubs will get around it. “The testing thing is nonsense, there is no way the Premier League can sell to the public that they’re going to have access to tens of thousands of tests while the front line workers are forgotten.” please log in to view this image Phil Hay - 15 points from remaining nine games expected Leeds Utd journalist Phil Hay believes Leeds, with Bielsa at the helm are in the perfect position for promotion. The former Chief football writer for the Yorkshire Evening Post posted an article on twitter detailing how, during previous seasons, Bielsa's teams have performed. 'If the Championship is heading for a nine-game sprint then how well placed are Leeds United to finish the season of? Well, from Argentina to Mexico to Spain, France and England, Marcelo Bielsa's teams have averaged 15 points from a standing start' Looking at the teams we have to play, personally, I'd be gutted (and worried) if we only collected 15 points from our remaining 9 games! Germany seem pretty confident of getting games on soon. That would be a massive boost to our chances of finishing the season. There's enough money in the Premier League and Championship to deal with the logistics of finishing the season but I think ultimately it will come down to how much pressure there is from the government and public.
Some good news in these uncertain times. Dominic Matteo has been given the all clear after his long battle with a brain tumour.
Morning all.... Neville just wants to wind up Liverpool fans, no to Pablo in the PL good to have as a sub assuming we go up.
Pablo is a class footballer & has played in the premiership with Swansea, he would still have something to offer in the prem even at the ripe old age of 35
Afternoon all. Until we find a creative player that paps him out of the team, Pablo is our man! Players like him, especially younger ones, are at a premium, so difficult to sign. I suspect he'll spend more time on the bench & become a supersub, as he'll be wrapped in cotton wool to avoid injury situations like this season. I reckon if we go up, we'll be relying on fitness, pace & passing for most of our games to run teams ragged. People like Pablo will only really be essential when a team parks the bus against us - which I don't think will happen too often.
