Good Morning Everyone Could Peacock Farrell be feigning injury to punish Bielsa for daring to tell the Northern Ireland keeper he'd be losing his no 1 spot to Blackman? You have to admit that the timing of the injury could not be worse. Perhaps this is a way that he can put two fingers up at Bielsa and say 'serves you right for dissing me'! Publicly (which in itself is unusual for Bielsa) this is what the Argentine had to say:- “I could have avoided telling you I took the decision to play Blackman but I wanted to make it public for two reasons,” “Even if it doesn’t have any value, it’s good that people know that Jamal Blackman reached the goal he had when he came to Leeds. Regarding the impact of this information on Farrell’s mind, I could have avoided telling Bailey that he lost his position as a starter but when you go from a starting position to a substitute it can have a positive impact. “I didn’t want Bailey not to find out he had lost his position. It’s not very serious when you lose your position because that’s football. You have good moments and bad moments and it’s the same for every one of us. “But it’s important that when someone loses that right, he finds out why this happens and makes the corrections he needs to make. “If I had hidden the situation I wouldn’t have given Farrell the opportunity to find out the consequences of his performance. When I tell the whole truth about a subject, it’s because I think it will have a positive effect.” Thoughts? Emergency goalkeeper rules state that a Championship club can’t sign a keeper from the Premier League. They don't allow it. Leeds have three options :- A loan from the EFL. Leeds would have to ask for special dispensation to sign an emergency goalkeeper Sign a free agent Go with Huffer/Miazek. One thing for sure, it won't be David Stockdale - he's heading on loan to Wycombe. The word is, Leeds are trying to sign West Brom's shot stopper Jonathan Bond on an emergency loan. Bielsa is adamant that he doesn't need more defenders in January, despite the current situation. Thoughts?
Morning all.. No I don’t believe he would feign an injury, not for a second. I like Bielsas style, you can’t just drop a player and say nothing, far better letting them know what area is under the microscope. New keeper (whoever it might be) make shift defence and on the back of conceding 4 last time out, this has a clean sheet all over it
Morning all The keeper situation has caused a few arguments on here but to be fair its the same all over. Obviously BPF was given the gloves because Blackman wasn't as fit as Bielsa wanted so he had weight to lose and fitness to gain. BPF didnt do much wrong at he start and therefore kept the gloves even though Blackman got ready to play. Bielsa called Blackman the best young keeper in the UK and had decided to replace BPF and let him fight to get his place back. The story ends now as pointless talking about it now as BPF would have played if he hadnt got a strain. Do we wait until January to sign a new keeper or do we have Miazek or Huffer for a game this weekend and then on the bench behind BPF. I suspect we need to gamble for the next 9 games and sign a top keepr in January. Miazek is older than Huffer by a couple of years and has more experience as he has played in the top Dutch league for Feyornord before Orta snapping him up. Huffer has plenty of experience with the England U20s and shouts at his defence a lot, so a confident kid. The CB injury thing is a mystery as I dont know anyone who thinks we dont need a new CB, but all you can say is; leave it to Bielsa as he knows something we don't. Remember he went to see Kitching a few weeks ago which suggests to me he will be bringing him back to the U23s and promoting Aapo Halme or Diaz and remember we have Nessy who Bielsa originally planned to play CB in the team but through injury and lost form isnt ready yet. Halme has the quality to become a top CB
Pigheaded comes to mind please log in to view this image Bielsa may have to change his thoughts if we are embarrassed by Bristol City or Reading over the next few days
Feign injury, give your place to a rival young keeper who might come in and have a blinder? No don’t think so. From what I hear, BPF is a level headed lad who is confident in his ability without being arrogant and will know where he needs to improve. 1.Was Bielsa right to point out where he needed to see improvements... for sure. 2. Was he right to tell him he would have been dropped... maybe... that can go both ways and what’s better for the players long term growth and strength of character may not be best short terms for the success of the team - so i’d Say that's a calculated risk but can see an argument either way. 3. Was he right to out to him publically? That’s a really strange one. With the best will in the world, it’s nice to give Blackman some public backing but he could have done that privately. Jamal is no longer a Leeds player. With respect to BPF, i’m Not sure how that is going to help him... unless their assessment of his personality is that he needs a public rocket. Assuming he’s back in a game or so, he goes into the game with team mates and fans alike thinking he doesn’t really have the manager’s backing. We’re it not for his reputation for honesty i’d Be thinking bielsa had said this to let the disgruntled fans know he was dropping bpf... Ie he did it for his reputation not the good of the player. Hey i’m a keyboard warrior, bielsa is a highly thought of manager, I hope he’s got this one right. If nothing else it will certainly be a test of character for the lad.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a misty Bardsey So Heaton can't join until Jan a pity will Pontus be fit for Sat? We need defensive cover in Jan a winger and a striker .It looks to me that Bamford is close to a comeback after watching him in training Was Bielsa right to tell BPF he was dropped Yes
Goalkeeper latest: We need to have an emergency keeper signed by lunchtime today otherwise its too late for the match. Tom Heaton is willing to come to Leeds and maybe in an emergency role for a week initially but a permanent role in January. Looking more likely that it'll be January and we don't yet know if Bielsa fancies him or if Orta has someone else lined up from abroad?
good morning from central wakey if it's like this tomorrow i don't envy those attending Elland rd. so it has come to pass and the prothet Bielsa has spake his truth.good for him i say makes him more of a leader by not hiding behind the injuries . So it has come the time we must trust in our u23s and give them a go it is what they are there for.put the youth in and lets see what they can do.as youths do they will play without fear and not afraid of making the odd mistake.so i will be giving them my full support and willing them on we need a performance to halt the slide .do we need a win ? well i think we do and we have the skill in Saiz and pablo to unlock the brizzle defence .just need clarke and co to make the runs and go for it.
Milky - not as I understand it mate. Nothing to do with Heaton belonging to a Prem club. You could sign a keeper on an emergency (7 day) loan agreement from anywhere (even abroad) as long as you fulfilled the qualifying criteria. The fact that you appear (from what I've read on here) to have other keepers on professional forms who although maybe inexperienced are capable of playing for the first team rules you out of an emergency keeper loan altogether.
I was quoting our local rag’s sportswriter Phil hay, sparky. You may be right and he may be wrong! I’m sure as hell not interested enough to do primary research on it!
You have to prove that you haven't got fit a goalkeeper that hasn't played more than five senior games - They are then not classed as 'professional'. It can’t be someone from the Premier League - it has to be someone from the Championship, League One or League Two or someone out of contract.
Where did you find that Matt? Can't see that quoted anywhere in the EFL rules - doesn't mention anything about EFL keepers only.
An hour gone now and the ****ing silence is deafening on here as Matt trawls through his sources........
