Good Morning Everyone Berardi has been speaking to Leeds Journalist Adam Pope about his race against time to be fit, and ready to start on the 30th when Millwall come to town. “I hope so, I’m training hard, we still have 7-8 days to the next game, I need to show the staff I’m ready to play. I don’t know what they will do, but I still need to show them that I’m ready.” Is Berardi more than capable of filling in for Jansson? Leeds fans have taken to social media asking why Leeds Captain Liam Cooper was omitted from the Scottish squad following their humiliation over being thrashed by Kazakhstan? Thoughts? Victor Orta is scouring the South American market looking for talent! One player that has caught his eye is Boca Juniors midfielder Nahitan Nandez, who came to prominence in the World Cup last year, featuring in every match of the campaign for Uruguay in the tournament in Russia. Nandez would certainly fit that billing. The 23-year-old not only has huge experience on the international stage but he has delivered the goods in some big domestic matches, setting up a goal against arch-rivals River Plate in the ill-fated Copa Libertadores final earlier this term. Who would prefer a Brazilian? If you could strengthen one position for Leeds until the end of the season, where would it be? Who's place(s) would be in doubt? Are the forwards prolific enough in front of goal? Is the midfield strong enough to support and feed the attackers? If our defence was more water tight, surely gaps would start to appear in our opponents defence?
Morning all.. Berardi was on fire at the start of the season and Pontus couldn’t get back in the team. It’s always going to be hard coming back after a lengthy injury but I’d prefer Berardi over losing Phillips in midfield. We’re defending okay, we’re creating chances but not finishing them so you’d have to say striker for a wish to strengthen. I’ve never been a fan of Orta and I’m still not although he seems better at scouting U23s than starting 11.
Morning Ell, Need to duplicate Hernandez, only because he is getting on a bit, as a priority, perhaps Doc will know if we have a replacement already but without this we could struggle whichever league we are in next season. You agent provocateur, Brazilian indeed !!! Really glad Coops wasn't playing last night, imagine the embarrassment !!!
good morning to Matt and co from a dull Bardsey I am pleased Cooper didn't play last night and I feel very sorry for WJ who went there wearing his tartan it must a have frozen his dangly things off! Peacock F played well again last night so Kiko will not be missed too much and Alioski had another good game for his country I must say he has come on immensely under Bielsa I am missing the FFL and will be pleased to get back on trackwe can ill afford a draw in the next 8 games so its all hands to the pumps
Yes was good to see BPF playing for NI, hopefully he'll play the next game too, gives him some match sharpness ready for the Millwall game.
On the Cooper debate This is always my argument when a section of our fans reckon Cooper is a better CB than Jansson Cooper struggles to be selected in what is one of the worse Scottish international teams I've witnessed since my interest of football as a kid Whereas Pontus is a automatic squad member in a international team that has regularly qualified to play in the World Cup/Euro tournaments over the last thirty years hence the reason the Swedes are ranked 14th with the Scots 38th in the FIFA world rankings. Pontus has played in World Cup/Euro tournaments, Cooper hasn't come close After saying all that Liam has had a fantastic season at Leeds, his best under Bielsa's shrewd guidance On current form he has to be better than the two CB's McKenna & Bates selected last night v Kazakhstan. Mckenna has played 42 games in five seasons for Aberdeen. Bates played Scottish lower league football prior to playing 20 games for a average Rangers team & now plays his football for Hamburg. I have to confess I've never seen either play but I know I wouldn't be enamoured if we signed any Scottish CB these days. I'd back our leader every time against what Scotland have to offer when it comes down to a choice of CB's One other point to consider Scotland play a different style of football compared to Bielsa's Leeds which may effect Cooper's current form playing under a average manager Tbh I'm glad Cooper wasn't selected for selfish reasons as we are without Pontus for possibly the three next games so the last thing we want is for Cooper to pick up a injury playing for Scotland
Positions we are lightweight in : No replacement for Pablo, no current Leeds midfielder comes close to Hernandez's creativity Lack of a prolific striker, Roofe, Bamford & Roberts will score goals, unconvinced they'll score 25+ goals a season We lack true pace, the signing of Daniel James would have remedied that problem, we may have been top of the league now with James on our books
BPF didn't have much to do but was assured and composed, made a good one on one save when they were one up
What do my learned pundits think of AR being sued for £750m could it only happen to us! Surely he will have to sell the club shortly if he his skint What he has left us with is our own ground, a nucleus of young talent, a great coach I think he will hang on until we know what league we are in next year
I watch them every game, it's so plainly obvious to me Eire Massive shame the problems haven't been resolved which were evident prior to the start of the season
Tbf, Alan Hanson was one of the most assured CB's I ever saw but was largely overlooked by Scotland. Not arguing your point though.
One of the drawbacks of a skint owner, but its not allowable to say such a thing, so I just think it to myself
On the one hand I agree with this. Every Leeds fan has wanted a wood type prolific striker and some pace on the flanks. I’m as p* ssed as the next guy that we had the chance to change things in Jan and didn’t because we didn’t have the cash to organise a structured recruitment plan. Where I differ is, mb made his call on the squad at the start of the season and selected players to play his game and style. He had Saiz, he hoped to have brown as cover for Saiz and Pablo. Come Jan, he wanted a winger which we didn’t get. But ultimately bielsa takes team over individuals. We can say if only we had this player that player, bit more pace, better defenders, keeper that never drops a cross etc etc. It’s easy to pick where a team can be improved or attributes added.... But sometimes adding one attribute will be at the expense of another. We see that with the wishes for some beef in midfield that crop up when people think we’ve been bullied. That’s great but it would need to be beef with a great first touch and awareness that can get round the park like klich, for example. We’ve known all season that we can’t defend set pieces, are susceptible on the break and need plenty of chances to score... partly because the chances we create are half ones in a congested environment. But it’s easy to criticise when the reality is the manager has taken a bunch of no marks to the top of the table by prioritising other things.
Bielsa has a achieved a miracle with the current squad at his disposal, best season in a very long time watching Leeds. Still don't believe Marcelo is our problem for our recruitment inadequacies
Why should fans deny the truth mate ? Too many dodgy/risky signings could cost us & I won't be blaming Marcelo Typical Leeds owners, as tight as us yorkies
Dropping lower than a snakes belly... Hopefully when we play them they should be resigned to mid-table rather than desperate for points for play-offs or avoiding relegation
