Good Morning Everyone Patrick Bamford has been talking to Popey about his relief that he does not have to undergo the knife. This will be the difference between 4 months out of action or 9 months out of action. Fortunatly the posterior cruciate ligament damage which the 25yo sustained in the 5-0 thrashing of Bristol City did not need surgey, meaning Bamford should be back in action early in the New Year. Ex Welsh legend Craig Bellamy has been speaking on the Sky Sports Debate Programme about Leeds! “I’ve been very impressed from day one when they beat Stoke in the opening game,” Bellamy told the Debate programme (45:50). “Leeds are such a big club, they need to be in the Premier League. It’s been messy over the years, the managers that have come in, the signings…I’ve seen one or two players for Leeds and thought, ‘they can’t play for Leeds, they’re not Leeds players, this is Leeds United’. “In the summer they went and got Bielsa. I was shocked. Bielsa is the holy grail and what we believe coaching is. Bielsa is that type of guy who does projects no one else does.” Does Tyler Roberts deserve to start against Birmingham? 2 goals in 2 games - not bad a all especially when you consider Ekuban got one goal in 20 appearances! Same question about Foreshaw. He is fit to start? Leeds United are keeping tabs on Kasimpasa star striker Mbaye Diagne, according to reports in Turkey. Leeds, Hull and Bournemouth were all eyeing up the 26-year-old during the Summer but interest cooled down over problems with a work permit. Turkish-Football now report that Leeds scouts have been monitoring Diagne this season. They are expected to be attendance when Kasimpasa host Alanyaspor in the Turkish Super Lig this weekend. Diagne has recently applied for an EU passport after spending several years in Italy and that could see paperwork sorted in time for the January transfer window.
Good Morning to the Sherriff of ER and his posse from a slightly sunny Bardsey Diagne by the time we get to January will be injured we do seem to have that kind of effect on our new signings Bruce has now gone after Collins to bolster his attack anything to deflect dissent with the fans Fell sure Roberts will start and Alioski on the bench replaced by Dallas Forshaw will be on the bench as well along with Beradi Clarke Edmundson
Good morning Matt & everyone Hopefully Bamford will be fit for our 2019 run-in Many pundits/players/opposition fans are talking about Leeds right now & why not we were are playing premiership style football similar to Wolves & Fulham last season, I would say we look stronger than the Cottagers tbh Tyler Roberts will start on Saturday & v Sheff Wed the following Friday No Forshaw isn't fit to start, if he was who would he replace ?
Morning all Good news on Bamford. Bellamy is correct. Even if he hadn't scored those goals, Roberts would still be starting tomorrow. Will be the same team unless any injuries. Forshaw will have to bide his time, expect to see him for the last 10-15 minutes each game nothing more presently. We'd have a squad of 100 if we signed all the players the press link us with.
Morning all Bamford may be back for Xmas so deffo a new player for us in the new year unless he does something to it. Everyone talking about Leeds and as others have mentioned there has been sublime footy played by a few sides in recent seasons but not all have got promoted. Remember Reading liked to pass 400 times sideways etc. But Wolves with a top quality (Not Championship) team ronced it last season, Fulham, even Derby the season before last, but I think Leeds are playing better than all of them so far. Comments from Bielsa yesterday tell a story: I am happy with this squad, they are my players. I dont want to replace any of my players I am more than happy with them all. To me that says the players will do whatever he asks and they give him everything. I think he is enjoying life at Leeds and when asked how he can turn things around so quick he says 'I am a project manager, and because I know how to do things fast because I never had players for long as an International Manager. message needs to be communicated fast' Break things down into simple things.... he is now recognised as the single most important figure at the club and Phil Hay says everything that happens at Leeds is done with his blessing or not done.
What he has done at this club is pure science fiction,it should not have been possible, what's that old saying? you can't polish a turd, well Bielsa & his assistants seems to not only polished a dozen or so,but turned them into 24ct gold,it's been pure fantasy in such a short space of time.Bloody amazing i wouldn't have believed it possible if i did not see the transformation with my own eyes.Theirs something else i like about him,in that i am also confident he will stay at the club, because believe you me this is not going unnoticed by the footballing world in general, and as time goes by pressure will be mounting on him to stay & the club to keep him.
Just to add, what's even more staggering is he's done it without spending 25-50 million as another manager would have had to do,but used most of the same players as last season (yep we all groaned at just before the start of the season,at the lack of transfer activity),players we all had but given up on, but look at them now. This is what truly amazes me. To me we are better than Wolves last season without the expenditure.
Bielsa is the personification of a proper coach, none of this “these players I’ve inherited are ****e I need to spend a few million pounds that the club doesn’t have” bollocks, it was a case of “I’ll work with what’s there and make them the best footballing side in the division” The guy’s a genius
Morning all At this very early stage of Bielsas miracle each game is a step forward, we will lose games but we will learn from the defeats. The great thing is we will be good to watch and we will progress. Long live Marcelo.
And that is one of the most important things to not only a Leeds fan,but footballing fans in general. Also playing like we are will win over a lot of neutral fans as well.
They say bielsa is a romantic and I don’t doubt that the sleeping giant thing appealed to him. However, I think it was also an opportunity for him. After the last two positions he had a reputation to repair. If he failed at Leeds it might look like an impossible job on an average budget...But it would be a run of failures on his cv. But if he succeeded? Well everyone would take notice. He insisted on complete control, looks like he has been given it. If it works out it says the bielsa way is a successful way... and the previous problems are forgotten and look like the problem was the clubs not him. Redemption is a powerful motivator. He has good reason to stick with us.
Morning all. While I agree that what Bielsa has done is exceptional I can't say I'm as shocked about the turn round in players as some say. Overall as a team they failed last season, sometimes miserably, but as players they all showed at times what they were capable of. Some did under Monk the season before. What Biesla has done is got them doing it every game and as a team. That is truly great coaching and that is what we have lacked. Someone to make us be a team.
