Good Morning Everyone Marcelo Bielsa has revealed why he has opted to play Stuart Dallas over Tom Pearce during Barry Douglas's absence! “In the last game, when Dallas came he had a very good performance, as a right-back. It was hard for me to take the decision not to put (Pearce) in the team. I was positively impressed by Dallas, who, as a left-back, had a regular performance. When he played as a right-back he played very well, he had a very important performance.” We heard yesterday that Sky are using technology to drown out the Leeds fans chanting "Sky TV is f****** s***" Luke Ayling may have the answer!!! The crocked right back told the Daily Star (so it must be true) "Have to sing a little louder on Sunday lads. Stephen Warnock has taken a dig at Bielsa by claiming that his demanding training sessions are causing his players to get injured. He also added that the Argentine has not won anything in over a decade. “It’s a brilliant club that is so well supported both home and away. There is an expectation that comes with playing for the club, and that can often weigh heavy on the players which I guess is just natural when you’re talking about expectation,” Warnock told Wigan’s official website “With Bielsa in charge I think he’s quite good at grounding his players and takes a lot of the pressure off them, but again as much as I love Leeds I look at the squad and think are they strong enough? “They’re losing a lot of their players to injury at this moment in time and whether that’s down to the training regime, which I hear is seven days a week with not much rest and break time in between. “He hasn’t actually won anything in his last 10-15 years as a manager either.”
Good Morning toMatt and co from a sunny Bardsey Doc I see that Foyth played for Spurs the other night so I doubt they will loan him to us whilst they are still in the cup Who plays on Sun at right back my monies on Shackleton Warnock must be the worst full back to play for England and he certainly was paid far to much Derby soon realised he was useless after the Wally with the brolly bought him so I won't listen to him
Good morning all Warnock at times as a pundit speaks some sense to be fair, but on this subject he hasn't got a clue. The only injuries we've had in training was Harrison and Dallas, but strains that our head of physio decided to leave them out of 1 game to be safe. All the rest were done in challenges with opposition in matches.
Morning all......Yet another ex "footballer" jumping onto the "let's have a go at Leeds united" bandwagon. Is it because "we're not famous anymore ".
Mike Foyth gave an interview on the 19th October and he said he was very happy at Spurs under Potchetino but was sad that he was so far down the pecking order. Spurs bought him for the future and paid £8m for him and gave him a 5yr deal, but he is 5th in line for a starting place and in last seasons teams he played 5 times in cup games and would only be doing the same this season. He says he's improved but now needs more games and hes aware of Bielsa's Leeds being interested in him. It would be an honor to play for don Marcello he says but he will be guided by Potchetino? So not sure what will happen but obviously something is going to happen in the CB department because of Bielsa and Orta looking at Liam Kitching earlier this week. Does Bielsa think Aapo Halme or Pascal Struijk is ready to step up therefore meaning Kitching replaces one in the U23s?. If not Foyth or another CB will be on the radar
Thanks for this update Doc as usual a mine of information Something for you now Wigan have not lost at home 5wins and just 2 draws however they never score more than 1 goal per game usually so if we get 2 we will winThey have a good defence so it will need some good shooting boots on! last 5 matc hes LLWLD ONLY WIN V WBAAND THEY HAVE FAILED TO SCORE IN 2 and scored 3 in 5 games WBA on the other hand have not pulled up any trees recently and have one of the worst defences in the league so if we can keep their attackers in hand will should win this one as well Last 5 games DLLWD ONLY WIN V Reading!
Doc I don’t get why Orta would be with Bielsa watching Kitching? He is responsible for scouting possible signings, not looking at players already at Leeds Surely if Kitching is being lined up for Leeds u23s then Corberan should have accompanied Bielsa to run the rule over him
Morning Matt and all If you look at managers stats, very few win anything, only so many things to win. Not looked but in what position or state are clubs in from when he joined to when he left, that would be a more significant stat.
Doc we had this discussion the other day... injuries are more likely to occur in matches from collisions AND from players pushing themselves more, stretching twisting etc. The fact they happen in matches, not training doesn’t mean the underlying reason isn’t over training. The issue from over-training in any sport is lack of adequate recovery time for the muscle fibres to regenerate. This is well known by anyone with basic knowledge of fitness... so it would be shocking if Leeds staff flogged the horses too much... but it does happen, same reason formula 1 cars break down... always looking to push the limits for an edge. We might just have been unlucky, but bielsa sides have a rep for fading in the second half of the season and he’s known to really work players hard so it’s not surprising that people raise these points.
When you employ one of the best physio and medical teams in football, you expect his input to be crucial to Bielsa. So I dont buy this crap and just maybe Bielsa said he wanted the best medical and physio people available to make sure his players are fit, recovering well and not prone to injury? Why else bother with good people. Maybe hes aware that his teams are SUPPOSED to fade later in the season and hes trying to counter it with medical facts and fitness?
Forza that would mean that they were not watching Kitching as did happen, but were watching another player? Corberan follows Bielsa, so if Bielsa says yes the answer is yes. No way would Corberan overrule Bielsa. But hey who can say whats going on, but something is.
I know what Bielsa says goes, and rightly so, I just can't see why there was a need for Orta to watch Kitching
Are they the best in football? We’re not going to sign them and say, ‘hey they were cheap’. Whichever, he’s an intelligent guy, of course he’s aware of the rep and he will have his own opinions.... and listen to his staff. He’s also having to adapt his boot camp philosophy to a league known for its physicality. I have no idea whoever they overdo it or not, i’m not privy to the detail, nor do I have the knowledge to make an assessment... hence my point was with regard to your comment that it can’t be the training because they are getting injured in matches. That might have some merit if they were getting broken legs from lunging tackles, but that’s not the case across the board.
Afternoon Ell and all. I suggest Warnock gets his arse out of the nice warm TV studios and rather than criticise the methods of a coach very highly rated by none other than Pep Guardiola, he goes out joins a league club and use his coaching genius to show Bielsa how it's done
