Good Morning Everyone Noel Whelan has insisted that Pawel Cibicki, Caleb Ekuban, Laurens De Bock, Jay-Roy Grot, Yosuke Ideguchi, Vurnon Anita and Ouasim Buoy have no future at Elland Road! “In my eyes, no, because they’re not good enough. It’s as simple as that. If they were good enough, they’d have stayed but from what I’ve seen last season, they’ve been brought into the club to do a job and they just can’t do it. “They can’t adapt, they’re not talented enough so they’ve gone out on loan and it wouldn’t bother me in the slightest if they were loaned out again or sold in the summer because the manager’s obviously seen something that is not required, he’s kept a very small squad, and he’s brought in players from the under-23s rather than the players who were brought in last season. “If we can get them offloaded, off the books, off the payroll, I’d be doing that straight away.” Do you agree? Who would you add to that list? Which under 23's would you promote to the first team in the Summer? Remember, Bielsa wants to keep a trim squad - any player you promote needs game time! Which U23 players would you let go? Pablo Hernandez is 34 years old today. Who would reward the Birthday boy with a new contract?
Morning all With regard to the players out on loan just read the Loan Watch sticky where you can see my views plus the detail behind every player out on loan and what they did in every match this season. If we are promoted around 16 of the 20 will be moved out and those who may come back are kids like Sam Dalby (17) tom Pearce?, Oriol Rey. If we dont get promoted we may see a couple more come back like Malik Wilks The Under 23s have been built by Victor Orta over the last season and a half. If you factor in a few really young kids like the new kid from Scotland we just spent £400k on and young Nicklas Haughland from Norway and then add special players like: Kamil Miazek GK Hugo Diaz CB Pascal Struijk CB Bryce Hosannah RB Alfie McCalmont M Robbie Gotts M Jordan Stevens DM AM RW Mateusz Bogusz AM Ryan Edmondson CF Clarke Odour RW Kun Temenuzhkov CF Jack Clarke CF RW LW Aapo Halme CB Will Huffer GK There will also be kids from the U18s and a few more from the U23s who make the breakthrough too like young Charlie Cresswell .... The future is bright but all depends on what happens this season and which league we play in next season, plus how much money we have
Good Morning to Mattt and Doc etc from a chilly but sunny Bardsey I agree with Whelan but I would include Irish lad we loaned to Luton If we gain promotion I would get rid of Dallas as I don't think he his good enough Jay roy Grot may have another chance Bring in Swift James a must! I think we will adapt better to the PL than Norwich or Sheff U
Morning all. Has Yankee Doodle Dandy gone to bed yet Just finished work and on the ale. Roll on Sat...
That's Something iv'e always thaught/said,Norwich & Particularly sheffield would come straight back down again,Leeds on the other hand,i could see emulating Wolves with a top ten finish. But a premier league place has to be earned first, just hope we will do it.
Morning all. Next seasons staff is 100% dependant on what division we’re In. If In championship all U23s squad might be good enough. If In premier leaguemaybe none of Them. Huge jump up
Afternoon all... I think it depends what division we’re in next season. If we are in the PL then there are 3-4 who if added to the list we’d think fine. Berardi, Dallas, O’Kane all spring to mind, I do think in the PL we’ll need better than Bamford too.
Afternoon / early evening all. Haven't caught up on all the threads yet. Haven't posted for a few days, I was just too peeved by the Birmingham result. All looks a little better after the midweek scores and I'm sat supping an early Guinness to get over the stress of the working week. At the moment it looks more like who will bottle it less between us and Sheffield utd. Don't fancy the playoffs at all after being so close & Villa seem to be the team building momentum for those. Watched the game on Sky during the week, main observation for me is that Jack Harrison is a terrible player, loses the ball constantly when we have players high up the pitch causing most of the counter attacks we struggle with. I've got more of a chance of a first team game at Man City than he has if he goes back.
I'm far from being Harrison's biggest fan, but I feel I need to pipe up in his defence re. losing the ball. He does, not doubt about it. But so do all wingers. It's because they are encouraged to takes risks, by dribbling, or running at a defender, and that makes them more vulnerable to losing the ball. Fact of life. Now if it was one of our defenders, or to a lesser extent, a midfielder, then you would be right to be worried. Hugely worried. It's all part of the risk game that Bielsa encourages. I do know where you're coming from, though, & agree with the underlying sentiment. As I've said before, I don't believe he should be in our squad beyond the end of the season.
You are of course more likely right than me, I've not posted because I didn't want to dig any of the players out based on an aching for promotion, however, when I was shouting at the TV (much to the missus chagrin as she points out no one can hear) it mostly seems to be pointed at Harrison. I can't and won't argue that Bielsa obviously sees that he adds more to the team that outweigh his shortcomings and it's nothing short of miraculous how MB has kept us in it to this point.
Doc..heard this name linked a couple of times this week, you heard owt? Ander Iturraspe from Athletico Bilbao
I could never quite get my head around Alioski, in some ways he reminded me of my thoughts about Doukarra, I just expected him to be better than he seemed to play. This season I think Alioski has been ****ing brilliant, absolutely gives his all every game, sometimes the quality could be better but who's couldn't in the championship. His diving used to **** me off but he even that seems to have reduced from his game.
I agree. My own TV-abuse appears to be mostly aimed at Alioski, though Paddy B has had an earful once or twice lately too. Thing is, Alioski gets it most because he's a constant nuisance to the opposition, up front & at the back, with and without the ball, and while it's his decision making or the final cross or shot which draws the sweary-words, the fact that he has got himself there at all is not lost on me. He is without doubt one of our most improved players.
Mentioned him in the January window mate as he is a former Bielsa player and big fan of Bielsa and one of the players mentioned earlier today without names. He stayed in Spain but would walk over broken glass for Don Marcello. Not sure how things were left because it was decided to go for Dan James and our Spanish mate is an International and great stats. If we get promoted I think he will be first signing?
This isnt to wind anyone up but I remember early in the season when many on here questioned injuries because Bielsa makes them work hard then questioned a failing tired team at the end of the season. All because a few idiot journos put that thought in your heads. Anyway I'm here to save you further worry https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/marcelo-bielsa-leeds-united-stats-16113901
I dont think he should be in now. In fact i would play berra and push alioski up. Make us a lot tighter.
Mine's aimed at Ayling Actually don't mind Harrison. Scuffles around in circles a lot and gives the ball away a few times but the left flank seems to function well with the combination of him and Alioski.
