Does anyone think we will see any action in the loan window on Tuesday either in or out. If so, who will be going & what positions still need strengthening ? I think Waggy will be going out .
I think we might see us go back in for Kevin Doyle And I think Waghorn, Danns and Konchesky will be available
The question has to asked what has happened to waghorn and danns? both were good enough for us to sign and both did show they had the ability to nail down regular places.. their early performances showed that, since then they have disappeared into the kingpower blackhole of form.. along with wood, marshall etc..
is waggy out of contract at the end of the season? Id like to see him go out until january then see what he can offer in the second half - probably a top league one team like wolves is best or someone like derby who will be about midtable. No point sending him somewhere were he wont be first choice or like barnsley where he wont get the chances
Nigel Pearson, Kasper Schmeichel, Paul Konchesky, Wes Morgan, Zak Whitbread, Lloyd Dyer, Sean St. Ledger, Martyn Waghorn, Neil Danns and David Nugents contracts all run out at the end of the season Of them I wouldnt offer Konchesky, Whitbread, St. Ledger or Danns new deals The jury is still out on Waghorn and Pearson And the rest I will give new deals
We have had some good results but looking at it dispassionately I can't see us seriously challenging unless the current squad suddenly starts to play a hell of a lot better or, we bring others in ... we still need a commanding midfield general, maybe that's Hammond, only time will tell ... just keeping it real (before I get accused of being negative again)
Neither Danns or Waghorn are good enough to get in the team Waggy is 4th choice behind Nugent, Wood and Vardy Danns is 5th choice behind King, James, Drinkwater and Hammond
No-one (but Sunderland fans and their bloated manager at the time) would have heard of Waggy if it wasn't for Nige bringing him to Leicester on loan. He would never have had his one good season and would have faded into obscurity. As for Danns, aside from running around a lot, I've never seen any evidence that was EVER good. He's a beneficiary of the classic fan condition of I Know Better. The side are not performing as expected, so the obvious answer MUST be that one of the reserves. Clearly, the manager is making a mistake by not picking him - even people that don't watch the reserves or have never played or managed in professional football can see it! Sadly, and predictably, this is not the answer and said player either either blows his big chance (see Burton match last year) or moves on without getting one. The fans then never forgive the manager for letting their favourite player go and hold him responsible for all future problems with the club - even long after said manager himself has left.
Lesta - what you taking mate? Nobody has ever heard of Waggy? FFS - the Mackems were raving about his potential when he was in their reserves. Only reason they sold him was to finance a big money signing. England U21 international. If he is allowed to play regularly, he would do well. Unfortunately, that isn't going to happen for us. Sorry, like Fosse, was being negative again. I believe (just in different things to a lot of posters on here).
... you may not of - but then you obviously didn't see him before he joined us ... it wasn't a coincidence that Rangers were looking to sign him at the same time. Plus you must have missed the game at Derby (which was televised) where he completely ran the show in a way that none of our other central midfield players had done that season or indeed since ... oh and also the FA Cup tie at Chelsea (which also was televised) where he was just about the only one in our team that day that looked anywhere near good enough to compete at that level ... ... there is at least some sense if you sift around in your post for long enough ... "The side are not performing as expected ... Clearly, the manager is making a mistake .." Finally, refeshing to see that you are just as afflicted with that 'classic fan condition' as the rest of us
Danns was good in a poor Palace side where he could shine. He had a good run-in the season Pearson came back. Thought he was going to be a key midfielder last season, but wasn't starting. Hes had chances (in cup matches and on loan mainly) to prove that he deserves a starting place since then and has done nothing to impress anyone since. With FFP rolling round, he wont be getting a new contract here and will probably be off to Hull in the summer, as only relegated clubs will be able to afford his wages.
Good points well made on the whole Wizard ... although I suspect your last sentence will significantly increase the posting quota on this particular thread!
Fun? What is this word 'fun'? I'll have you know this is a serious Internet forum not a juveniles playground!
I've highlighted the key word for you in your post. I could give you a massive list of players that you've never heard of or forgotten about that had potential but never made. Waggy made his name with us. He didn't make the England U21 until 2011, ie when he was with us. Only the Sunderland fans (as I said in my last post) thought anything of him before that.
