As yet another thread descends into name calling and verbal insults, is it time for posters to start to move the arguments to a permanent home. The Linnet Car Park. (Thread) I am not talking about the "debate" style of argument, where one poster believes he/she is right and everyone else either gives their support or "debates" the subject. It's the combative abuse between posters that needs its own place and I can be as bad as anyone on here. It is frustrating to see a new post come up only to find yet another slagging match taking place. But that is the nature of this forum and many others. It does not strengthen your point if you add abuse, either. But the odd bit of slagging off doesn't matter, its the post after last word one upmanship pissed up posting that gets in the way. I know that I don't have to read them but, for instance the transfer window rumour threads should be just that. I am not trying to police the forum, its just a suggestion and I am not aiming this at anyone as I can be just as bad. Nor do I expect the mods to have to move posts.
Sort of like we already tend to do with drifting threads, but that upsets some people? Other boards just delete it so the debate can't continue. If it's abuse, it's better removed than encouraged. imho
Abuse is one of the key principles we pride ourselves on on this board. You're all ****ing ****s. Except for any homosexuals we may have on her, in which case they're ****ing arseholes. Edit: sorry just realised how sexist this post is. Apologies to the women who I failed to mention, you ladies are all ****ing dicks.
Rather a circular argument, requesting something that already exists and causes it's own arguments....
You had me at dicks **** assholes, Hatty xx
I doubt the mods would appreciate this but it's probably easier to have a sticky that only mods can post to (if that's possible) that has important updates in news from the club (kind of like the transfer rumours thread without the baggage). Far too much bilge posted on this site to move all the drivel and sniping.
We can close a sticky thread, which would leave it as you suggest, but how would we know what people want posting? I guess people could use the 'report' function, and send their message that way, but we'd have to filter them as I'm sure we'd get a few 'testers' If that's what you mean, what would go in it?
