Can I start by saying that after 50 years of following, watching and supporting Sunderland I still have no idea what the answer is, even though I still keep asking the question.

I saw loads streaming out yesterday with 15 minutes to go and yes I understand why but really no I don’t understand, I never thought of leaving for a moment. Maybe if you watch Sunderland long enough you just sort of expect it, become numb to it, become immune, don’t know the answer but my feeling yesterday was, “Oh well”.

A few weeks ago I was very down, very dejected and annoyed, not now, just back to being a long suffering fan. I think I allowed myself to get wrapped up in all the excitement, top 6 finish, competing with the big boys, that magic carpet but I’m back to reality now, normal service is resumed.

Don’t get me wrong, I believe Quinn, he is a genuine bloke who loves our club and I love him and I know he, like me, wants Sunderland to hit top spot, its just not meant to be.

We wont go down, no doubt about that and we will probably get a point next weekend when the two inform teams of the prem meet up for what promises to be an exciting 0-0 draw. We can shout all we like about Bruce out, Bruce the clown, Bruce the fat Geordie and it may make some feel better for saying it but Bruce will be here next season but questions will be asked by Short, warnings given and bottom lines set.

A big, big summer in the transfer window looms and the deals done, pre season arranged and start to next season will be massive, will it take us to the next level, the top 6, I doubt it but it will be fun getting all excited hoping. I will look forward to the talk about Messi and the like joining us, planning those European trips, that weekend in London for one or maybe two cup finals, oh the fun. Then next January we will be back to normality hoping we have done enough.

That’s the sad thing for me, I have accepted that this is it, this is reality, if I want better I need to find a new team to support and I’m to old and tired for that.

Come on bonny lads, maybe next year, maybe that’s when our time will come, cant wait.

syd i'm shocked by the response of posters on here,

while we were all trying to kid ourselves sess was a striker, and muntari is a footballer, sadly they have been found out.

sess has a big future, same as colback, but there was something not right with that team yeaterday (lack of quality).

the squad is seriously under strength, as bruce will adress this in the summer, and once more everyone will believe again.

like it or not we are stuck with safc, and will support them till we die, same as when in the dark days..

I'm not shocked mate, its what I expected and I can understand it but is it fair, I think not. You have said a few times, or more asked, is that the team you wanted and it is, how easy when it goes wrong to say well, no its not, you know what I mean.

Never understood those who leave early whether winning or losing I just dont get it, especially when your forking out about £30.
Dont know if Bruce will be here next year and I have to admit to losing patience with him. I was not expecting us to score yesterday due to our striking problems but we had no excuses in the defending department. It worries me that Bruce is not able to motivate the team and instill some fight into them these days letting us merely roll over and surrender.
Im going to the Bolton game next week - My first ever away match!!!! - and after yesterdays performance I just feel down about it.

Syd, look on the bright side. Without Sunderland’s generous help to its more elderly supporters, you've had no need to provide your own pacemaker to enable you to follow them for 50 years!!

Away games are the best. Always funny moments, scary moments, different battle cruisers etc. Enjoy it.

I think the big frustration is that after all these years of lack of investment in the team, the fact that substantial investment has been made in the last five years and nothing seems to have changed is the real disappointment. But, I feel Bruce deserves another season. Yes, the squad is light in numerical terms; perhaps he had his hands tied in that respect by Short?
The club should now know that strength in depth IS needed, so let's see what Bruce is given to work with.
I say Bruce, as they're not likely to sack him having just given him a contract extension.

Hopefully there was a knob clause in the contract............. act like a knob and drag us into another relegation battle and you’re out.........

Away days are fantastic no matter what mate, you get the singers, the die hards and the more positive element.

I could do with one myself actually, so i'm going to look into getting dow there as well!

Commachio, pardon me if I'm wrong but wasn't Bruce supposed to address this problem this time last year?, it's like groundhog day every year, anyway I'm positive we won't go down and I'm one of the very few at the moment that thinks that Bruce should be given more time, I don't agree with a lot of his team selections sometimes but I think the main problem this season has been due to injuries.
IMO he deserves the benefit of the doubt but if Martin O'Neil came I would definitely change my mind because I think that he has always been the right man for the Sunderland job , disciple of Cloughie etc...,

Well I was frightened I would be bored when Bruce was appointed; top 10 would be too boring. Now, the excitement of squeaky bum time is back!
