According to Dictionary.com: Now, I can apply this law to many things "Arsenal" and I dare say some of you can too. For example, the Law of averages dictates that Arshavin will score a goal at some point. It also dictates that even though he makes 100 pathetically poor passes, one of them will lead to an assist - like against QPR - but the probability is low, especially when you use Chamakh as the subject to be looked at But just because the Law of Averages predicts this, that Arshavin WILL make a winning pass, it doesn't mean we should pin our hopes and desires on the Law of Averages, we need something more reliable than that. I refrained from using Song as an example of the Law of Averages because it is a touchy subject for some but I'm sure you all get my drift. I wonder what the Law of Averages tells us about Spurs winning the league
Bloody Hell, you are right too ..... I kind of meant it as a joke but ... it bloody does as well !! And what better time for them to win it when everyone else bar Man City is playing ****e !!! Then Again, Liverpool had their chance a few seasons back when they were riding high and blew it .. so hopefully Spurs will maintain the Status Quo !
Spurs - Status Quo - down down, deeper and down - catchy tune Agree about Arshavin, but am probably the only fan that still feels there is something about Chamakh we have yet to expose. He was a good player prior to signing for us. Maybe a decent run of games will allow him to show what he can do, rather than the bit parts he has been given so far?
When he got a run of games at the start of last season, he was excellent. Just scored goals for fun. Then RvP came back, and the rest, as they say, is history.
I still think Chamakh has got a future at Arsenal. He does need a run of games, once he scores a couple of goals and his confidence comes back, I think we'll see a differnet player more like the one who he was when he first arrived.
Conundrums .. law of averages. the law of averages says that £50m Torres will score eventually and keep scoring .. it does not say the same thing about Chamakh. I think his biggest problem is he is not in the sodding box enough, he needs to be on the end of things and he can't be when he is dropping short laying balls off. We play tippy tappy football, the ball doesn't go from back to front quickly so there is no need for him to be dropping short.
It would be nice, but there's no guarantee that someone could come in and hit the ground running anyway, unless we bought top top quality. But that would take the right player to become available and probably shelling out £25m+
PISKIE .. my first disagreement with you in 2012 !! woo hooooo There are plenty of players that could come in for sub £15m and score goals - you just need to look at Demba Ba .. for example - he is NO flash in the pan, he did it at West Ham as well as Newcastle. If Newcastle can attract a player like that then why can't Arsenal ?
Ba could be an option, I like him as a player. I think we'd have to sell before we buy though and I'm not sure anyone will be going in January.
You should understand that what has already happened has nothing to do with the law of averages when applied to the future/ current events. If you have had heads five times in a row it does not mean that tails have more chances next time. It is still 50/50. This is the most basic thing one has to understand about the law of averages.
