http://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich...ropped_on_the_chin_says_paul_jewell_1_1661805 PJ - “I haven’t had a chat with him, but I think he knows he hasn’t been at his best lately so we’ve brought somebody else in to push him along. Listen, if anyone doesn’t do well then their place is under threat. No-one’s place is guaranteed, whether they be a loan player or permanent.” Way to say to someone that they are dropped PJ, just do it in the press! I ****ing give up!
I read two articles by him this morning. The first one was about our loans after failing to secure deals in the summer and although it annoys me I think there is a degree of truth in what he said but then I read this and thought what a cock. Basically confirming that once again we are going to have to build a whole new defensive relationship with a bunch of loans so chances are in Jan will have to go through the whole process again but with players whose confidence wont be great having been replaced by short term loans in the first place.
I completely agree with this, I've been reading quotes on here and in the press from PJ in the past months, while others have been calling for his head and slinging mud at him I tried to look at it objectively and let him have his say and try to understand his viewpoint, but the two articles I have read this morning smack of dreadful man management. I never claim to be an expert in football management but it doesn't take much to see that he is making an absolute hash of it right now. The fact that he tries to justify bringing in loans to 'take pressure off younger players' has it's merits but quite frankly we have been down this road before (Last season) and only a few months ago PJ himself admitted he had made mistakes that he wouldn't again, but right now I have lost all faith in him and he seems like he is acting irrationally and in complete desperation. The quicker he leaves the better in my view as I would prefer to see us play with some semblance of an Ipswich Town side, which means playing our own players however old or young they are
I have to agree. I usually think PJ talks alot of sense but the past few weeks it seems that he is making decisions of a desperate man. As you say those to articles were worrying, and the first time really that I've disagreed with what he had to say, there were so many contradictions in them!!
Just when you think jewell could not actually sink any deeper.....this is without doubt the darkest time since I have been following Town..I would go so far to say he is inching ahead of royston..... This is top drawer stuff, I especially like the bit " No-one’s place is guaranteed" all he needed to add was "well except mine of course"
