Before the players leave the tunnel, consider the situation, the opening game of the season, the minutes tick by closer to 3pm and the atmosphere builds to a crescendo as the new era approaches, the crowds getting louder and louder..... What song should be the one blasted over the tannoy as the players line up in the tunnel, just before they enter the field to a racious welcome and storms of ticker rape (when of course Mike Oldfield should come on), the song that will help build and galvanise this atmosphere? Currently the choice seems to be One Day Like This by Elbow, which to be fair is a good song I wouldn't mind keeping. At Doncaster they played Two Tribes by Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons which really got the atmosphere going! What would you like to see? I think maybe in honour of us being the largest fan owned club in the land, something from Les Mis might be good! Imagine something like this bellowing out of the speakers at Fratton Park (from 2:00 onwards, warning contains Les Mis spoilers)? "Do you hear the people sing? Singing a song of angry men? It is the music of a people Who will not be slaves again! When the beating of your heart Echoes the beating of the drums There is a life about to start When tomorrow comes!" Fitting, no?
If you play the Les Miserables song before ko, all you will accomplish is looking like a bunch of drama queens. Just get a local band to do play up pompey.
No, it would show we have excellent taste in music. Plus, you can't talk about anyone being drama queens, have you seen the posters they've put up on the outside of St Mary's?!
Yes. They're awesome. the more interesting point is why were you at St Mary's? Buying your season ticket?
Nope, someone posted some photos on the Southampton board. But they're no less overly dramatic than having Les Mis blasting out over the tannoy.
Sorry Pieking, I have been to St Marys - no atmosphere at all to my mind. Whereas, at Fratton Park - the Home of English football - oh yes, what an atmosphere ! No prawn sandwich eaters here matey, just genuine football supporters who enjoy a good match, and who get behind their team for 90 minutes. No exits after 75 minutes following a so called fire alarm going off, oh no, stay for the entire 90 minutes (plus time added on of course) to the bitter end, win or lose
Sorry! Hear that argument so often from people who are being seriously, sometimes it's hard to tell when people aren't being serious.
