Yes he certainly was a decent player but in terms of the outlay he cost us in wages/transfer fees vs what we got back from him in return, he was another expensive flop.
No mutual agreement i think mate, but considering his age and the fact hes an international means we've once again been shafted in letting players leave for nothing. We should have got at least 1m for him.
Just been reading about Moyes saying United ‘have a scattergun approach to transfers and don’t have any values’. This from the man, who whilst their manager, allowed Fellaini’s buy out clause to expire then panic bought him for an extra £10million or so. Then declined M’Vila and signed N’Dong for twice the fee. ****ing reprobate. I’ll be surprised if he ever manages again.
He turned out to be an unprofessional twat when it mattered but when he had a run in the side Anichebe was a beast. Never gave it away and always took it forward and made chances. One of the best players we've had in recent years for me although it ended sourly.
He was a beast when fit. Was it v Bournemouth when he just flipped the whole game and totally ruined them. Such a shame he was always injured.
Don't agree he was a flop because alwe got at least a little bit of footballing return from the lad. The rest make me want to vomit though.
I agree im not saying he was a flop but in terms of the outlay he cost us overall vs the input and the fact hes eventually left us for nothing shows it was another shyte bit of buisness from the club
He was one of those players who was so good that all the tactics you needed were "give it Anichebe", the ball stuck to him like glue and he made things happen time and time again. I'd expected him to be rubbish, didn't recall him doing much for Everton. Just didn't play enough because of injuries and went AWOL at the end of the season.
Everton fans said the same though, never that he wasn’t a player, just made of glass. He used to absolutely beast defenders time and time again, he was a monster. He’d be ideal for us now! Only 31 and a free agent
Whatever gripes people have about the owners must surely be mitigated by the way they've sorted out these high cost/low return players.
Think the owners have done an incredible job with regards getting rid of the dross! The club were up **** creek and without their ability to wheel&deal the likes of Rodwell, Djilli etc out of the door, we’d be in a similar if not worse position than Bolton !
It’s not just Bolton, and Bury, and Notts County. We are seeing the top of an iceberg here and the only reason we didn’t go under was staying in the Premier for so long. Had we gone down a year or 2 earlier, we might have been gone. Ellis could have pulled funding at any time, he could have refused to write down the debts, we were in a far, far worse state than even Bolton are, them great escapes were far bigger for us than we realised at the time I’d wager. If it takes us 10 years to get back to the Premier League, so be it, as long as the club isn’t gambled again. I loved going to the football, and loved the club for a lot of years before Reidy put us in the Premier (I was just getting the love the Denis Smith year). We’ve got to be conscious of the fact that prospective new owners may think ‘come in, chuck a few million in, hit the PL, take the PL tv money’, it’s a real ‘careful what you wish for’ situation. For every Man City or Leicester, there’s 2 Bolton’s, 2 Portsmouth’s. Fit and proper has been in play for years yet there’s 2 hundred year old plus clubs in real danger, the oldest club on earth was just saved at the bell. Maybe the way forward do clubs outside of the elite is having multiple owners, it’s unlikely you’d get 5 or 6 who were just there to rinse a club.
Football is like a hopeless cocaine addict. It's totally out of control, will prostitute itself to get money and has no idea how to break the cycle. No matter how much money comes into the game it goes straight out to greedy agents and undeserving players. The gutless media lick the hairiest bare arse in the PL and would rather have a 'million pound a week' player to drool over than see a decent little club, with dozens of low paid employees, pay a paltry bill and survive. They love to eulogise about 'the romance of the cup' when it suits them, but really wouldn't give a shiny shyte if they crumbled into dust. It stinks ....
