What if we had hung on in L1 by the fingernails? What state would we be in now? Scenario A With the overwhelming support of the grateful fans the board offers Campbell a one year contract with an option for extension. Would he have had the clearout which Buckle has made? I don't think so. The board would have still pushed for a lower wage bill, so there would have been some departures. Coles had only really tried for Campbell, and not for Penney; so would Campbell have given his 'mate' the shove? We might have got Andersen or Logan back. Would Lines have been as motivated as he is at the moment? Scenario B The board thanks Campbell but appoints a new manager, still probably Buckle. A majority of fans, and a core of players, would feel that Campbell was hard done by. Unrest in the camp a la Penney. Preserving L1 status would have meant paying L1 wages to recruits. Some of our current signings may have welcomed L1 football but not what we were prepared to pay. I reckon these were the two most likely scenarios....and with both I would have expected a season of struggle. Did I say relegation could be a blessing in disguise?......Surely not!
it could well be a blessing in disguise. i think so far getting relegated has benefited us as buckle has done a great job to date. who knows what he would of done if we were a league 1 team now or if he would be with us now. obviously i rather be in league 1 now but i am current enjoying this ride in league 2 and its going to be a long season but i honestly believe it will be a successful season

i cassnt see the gas getting a point at the bantams, surely their time is nigh. and add to that tuesday weeks game against the shrews, my the gas will be in dickys meadow by october. peter reid may be available by then, or what about paul simpson or gary peters
season over already?? 6 games gone and 40 left. were only 5 points away from top! why do people think that a team who will get promoted dont lose games and drop points??
