It's easy to moan and bitch about recent results but the truth is that we had an unbelievable start to the season and it has made fans expect so much more than is realistic. Yes, losing to Sheffield Utd was bitterly diaappointing but it is apparent that results have drained the confidence and we just need to avoid defeat to get a bit of self belief back. This is where we can all play our part, I recently watched the excellent "United", which told the story of the Munich air disaster which decimated the Busby Babes. They could've given up on the rest of their season but with a team of reserves they managed to get to a Wembley final that season with the help of some passionate support from the "Red Army". It is likely that Ron will be selecting some academy products against Everton, so let's not get on their backs if things aren't going our way, let's let them know that we are behind them 100% and make it as uncomfortable for Everton as we possibly can. The chips are down at the moment, but it only takes one positive result to turn things around so sing your hearts out for the lads and help to make it happen. OWTSGMI!
I believe that even Lawro said that Saints haven't become a bad team overnight. He slaps us down one week, then he builds us back up. He even reckons we'll win 2-1.
We have had bad luck in the sense of playing top sides in consecutive games and getting not a single point when we played well in all games with possible exception of City. This has coincided with injuries and suspensions, probably linked to tiredness due to having a small squad. This carried on into the game against Sheffield United, though remember they also beat West Ham. Now we are facing a midtable side with half the team missing and have Chelsea and Arsenal on the horizon again. Time for things to go our way...essential to get something out of Everton and Crystal Palace. Time to stand together...the team need to get their confidence back. COYR
I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, Straining upon the start. The game's afoot. Follow your spirit, and upon this charge, Cry God for England, Harry, and the Saints!
I shall be at the ground today, with my sage advice of "Man on!", "On your left, son", "Go to him" and "SHOOT!"
My wise advice is usually 'Get rid of it.' I have to say that I use that less frequently in the last few years which suggests an increase in belief in our ability to actually play the game.
They will be looking to about 28000 odd fans to spur them on. Their confidence will be around zero they will need to know they have a lot of fans backing them. It is going to be a tight game....teams coming here will think we are there for the taking at the moment because of our last results. Sadly I think we will only get a draw as we do not seem to have too much fire power at the moment. It is important we do not lose!!
They all look down on the training gallery, though it is possible they have edited out most shots of players looking like they are having a good time.
Well put OP. We are ****ing Southampton not Chelsea, were always likely to fall away, and anyone that didn't think that hasn't been supporting saints for very long. We are all fans for life regardless of if we finish top of the premier league or bottom of league one, and there's nothing we can do about it, so let's support the boys!!
Right! This is a call to action if I ever heard one! Off right now to the hardware shop, to buy a tub I can thump!
And again yesterday. Of course, it could have been down to Lukaku being so embarrassed by the non-award of a penalty against Everton that he decided to take matters into his own hands and score for us. Or is that only in old 'Roy of The Rovers' stories?
