Ledley announced earlier in the week that they will be having a midweek meeting to motivate and inspire the players so I thought we should have one too. The conditions for a new contract were he play 20 games this season, and he's played 21. The first 12 of those he certainly deserved it, the last half dozen have made people question it.
i also wouldnt want him discarded..he has been Spurs through and through. i was once asked the question by a United fan who said 'if King was fit with no knee problem, would he have stayed at Spurs all his career' i said 'not sure,wd like to think he would'
All I do know is, he wouldn't go down the road. As for discarding him, i think you could put it better, that day will come, if it isn't here now, we don't know yet, but when it does, it just has to be dealt with, keep playing him because he's Spurs through and through isn't really an option. You have to factor in a new manager if that happens, he may not want to put up with LK's predicament, Harry loves him, a foreign manager may well see things differently.
your right and i dont think we should be playing him..i think that has hindered our search for getting a real big signing centre back..because we always thought LK would/could do the job. by discarding i meant dont let him leave..offer him a coaching role...he really does deserve it.
He hasn't been able to teach/coach most of the CB's he's had alongside him, he's brought YK and MD along in recent years, but who else before that? You can't teach what he's got Dona, you just can't. He could teach the basics no better than anyone else imo, but his instinct is unteachable, no 2 games are the same, thats why he's the special player he is.
I am sure the club will offer Ledley a coaching role when the day comes for him to retire. This might be controversial, but I would hesitate to do this. One of the most important factors in coaching is not just what you know, but the ability to put your knowledge across. I am not so sure Ledley can communicate that well. No disrespect, but when it comes to communication skills, he's on a par with Merson.
Evening Spurcat! i expected to see my post when I clicked, i can't believe you've gone against the grain like me!...mind you, you decided to tread carefully whereas as I've gone for the hobnail boot approach!
