You'd imagine so. My information is just that these mares visited those stallions. They may not even have got them in foal. May learn more when Return of Mares is published in November.

Rainbows Edge goes for her hat trick in the Listed Upavon Stakes at Salisbury today. She needs to step up to be competitive as there are a few mares and fillies who've achieved a lot more than her in her two starts. However in both her starts though her inexperience shone through so did her ability, and hopefully she will show the required improvement to at least get some black type. Should get the extra 2f as her brothers Call to Mind and Space Walk (both by Galileo) won over 14f+.

Still only the two 2yos entered. They must be a backward lot.

Rainbows Edge got her black type when finishing 2nd on her Listed debut. She beat all the higher rated fillies but lost out to a 50-1 shot. Got lost in the race about 4f out for some reason: had been second to the all the way winner up to then only to fall back to about 5th.
She looks as if she's capable of a listed win but will it be at 8f, 10f or further?

No yearlings being sold this year but the HiT sale at Newmarket in late October could have quite a few entries. Also time to weed out a few more mares.

The two 2yos that have run both ran this week. Royal Equerry finished last of 5 at Nottingham and must be pencilled in for the Sales. Shouldn't struggle to find a purchaser. Handcuffed ran much better in a 6f Nursery at York and finished a close-up 4th to 3 horses that carried more than her. May be difficult to place but has ability.

Friday and Saturday sees a few more Royal runners but still thin stuff.

Thin stuff indeed! Two runners, Crown Estate and Reaching High, managed to beat one horse between them.

Time to break the ties with the late Queen's Racing Manager?

Well I was wrong that no Royal yearlings were in the Sales. I had been looking under The Royal Stud but they are being sold at the Book 2 sales under Highclere Stud.
    The potential sellers are:-
f Ulysses out of Good Hope (last foal of this mare from the Feola family)
f Sea the Moon out of Approximate (dam is daughter of Estimate)
c Showcasing out of Make Fast (half brother to Tactical, Works of Art and Handcuffed)
f Sottsass out of Queen's Prize (dam now sold and this is her last foal)
f Camelot out of Desert Flyer (2nd foal of twice winning Shamardal mare)

That still leaves the King with 8 fillies according to my records and there should/could be 6 colts. So quite a reduction from 21/22 seasons.

Next Thursday sees a whole clutch of 2yo races at Haydock, Salisbury and Newbury. A great opportunity to get some unraced 2yos out. The King appears to have one runner, Handcuffed at Salisbury and this will be her 4th start.
They must be waiting for those Wolverhampton maidens in December.

The King has 8 filly foals and one of them has not been registered for the GBB bonus. By Dubawi out of Desert Flyer (who's a Sharmadal daughter of a 2yo champion) her pedigree looks very attractive. Then you look at my last post and see that her year older sister by Camelot is being sold as a yearling. It prompts the question is there something wrong with this mare's foals? Of course it could be a coincidence that her yearling is considered a weak specimen and should be culled in the same year that her younger sister is thought not worth registering. Not being registered could be for the reason that she is a poor foal or that she has sustained an injury and will not be able to race. If it's the former then maybe Desert Flyer will find her way to the Breeding Sale in December.
She does have a 2yo colt by Dubawi called The King's Falcon who may scotch all these theories but of course he's not been entered yet.

Another 2yo has been named and that is Fiery Sunset's Time Test foal called Shepherd's Delight. Let's see what happens to her (she is also not registered).

Must confess that I did just have a somewhat cheeky look on Oddschecker, just now, to see if old boy Reaching High was being quoted for the 2025 Triumph Hurdle. Send him to Hendo (or Jamie Snowden should Queen Camilla prefer) and the rest could be history. But Reaching High isn't.

There must be a huge temptation though to put him in the October Horses In Training Sale. Would it be daft to think he could make half a million??? The words 'Australia', 'Melbourne' and 'Cup' would surely push his price to somewhere in that region...

Luke Morris knows how to ride him

On the evidence of that run he looks very useful, and so he should be with that pedigree. Any 2 mile major handicaps?

I note that Tactical, a former star of this very thread, is set to be sold again - at Tattersalls, next Tuesday (10th).

It hasn't really worked out for the 6YO at Julie Camacho's (surprising, in my opinion, as do like that yard) and Tactical achieved a formline of just /56000-09063 for them. Because of that downturn in form though this former Group 2 winner is now perched on 80 (peak 112). I look forward to seeing who buys Tactical because if new connections can rejuvenate him then he could end up being extremely well handicapped off his current mark.

Rather too well. A bottom weight handicapper getting an 11lb rise after this 7&1/2 length victory. Towser Gosden would have shot a jockey if he did that.

...................nothing to what Capt. Ryan Price would have done to the jockey years ago! He was quite the biggest bully I ever saw in horseracing. Happened to be on 'leave' in the UK and actually saw him berate some poor young jockey in front of everyone in the unsaddling enclosure after a race, at Kempton, or maybe a smaller track like Brighton, can't remember. As successful as he was, and one can read countless eulogies on him, I really disliked this tyrant. :(

Unless he needed the rise to get into a race? But yes, otherwise he should have made that look more difficult

Reaching High carried 9-0 in the Melrose. There were 2 of the field carrying 8-2 and 7 others carrying less than him. If he'd won by 1&1/2 lengths presumably he'd have only got a 5lb rise and carried 8-8 in the Melrose. All hypothetical as he ran so badly he wouldn't have won anyway. The problem is he's got that 11lb albatross hanging round his neck now.

Tudhope overdoing it trying to shed some of that 11lb? <laugh>. The next race might explain all, or not
