With MON saying that he wants to look at the kids in pre season, which of them do you think will look the part. We had a number out on loan last year are they going to come back better for the experience? I am not talking about Noble but the ones below him the likes of Knott and Laing possibaly even young Pickford. any thoughts?
Haway, it's MON we are talking about here. It will be the strongest starting 11(minus Seb and McClean)
I think Knott, Egan & Deacon might be loaned to Championship clubs till January at least, but I have a feeling that Laing may not be far from the squad. I've only seen Knott in highlights when he was at Wimbledon, but from that, and what I hear from others, I'm quite excited about the lads potential.
Think Knott won Wimbledons young player award last year, their fans on twitter were raving about him. He scored about 5 goals as well.
Yeah, from what I could see via Football League show, he looks like he loves the ball, you can't have too many players like that! We only really have McLean & Sess.
Saw young Deacon play a blinder against Blackburn reserves away last season....hope he gets chance to progress
But will these kids tempt MON to buy fewer but better quality players in the summer, as buying seven or eight decent players may not improve the squad that much but would block the development of this group of young players. I would be happy with say three more real quality signings and giving the kids a chance. Always remember that MON tend to play a fixed starting XI when he can so the issue of squad size to cover rotation is not an issue. The squad only needs to cover injuries.
Unfortunately think Noble's time at the club is coming to an end. Don't think it will happen for him here. Will probably go on to Championship level.
Derby County boss Nigel Clough wants Sunderland’s young Irish centre-half John Egan to join on loan - and fill skipper Jason Shackell’s boots. Clough will ask old pal Martin O’Neill to let him have the defender for first-team action. Egan is keen to play in the Championship after some games at Crystal Palace last season. Egan is the type of no-nonsense centre half that Clough wants after being forced to sell Shackell to Burnley to raise funds. Clough missed out on Joel Lynch when he joined Huddersfield and is unlikely to land Richard Keogh from Coventry - with Cardiff first in the queue for him
