Has anyone else experienced the Ji-Sung Park effect yet?

It was clear from the moment we signed him that we would gather supporters from the Far East, I just never imagined the effect would be so great, or quiet so immediate.

I went on to the official QPR facebook page the other day, after a picture of Ji-Sung Park was posted from our first tour match. I have to say that the blue and white hoops looked good on him, they also, dare I say, make him look ever so slightly less ugly. But the thing that shocked me was the comments on the photo, firstly there were hundreds, but nearly every single comment was in a foreign language, so much so that I had to double check I'd come on to the right page, the English version, but I was on the actual QPR official page. It's been taken over by what appears to be the whole of Asia, we haven't signed a footballer, we seem to have signed a demigod.

But over the last couple of days, a second and not quiet so pleasant Ji-Sung side effect. I'm now getting loads of random friends request from people ranging from Dubai, Malaysia, Korea. Everyone seem to want to be my friend and I'm assuming it's cause of Park. Do they realize I don't actually know him?

I don't remember getting any friends invites when we signed Zesh Rehman.

There's clearly a huge appetite for first class football out in the Far East. Now that we have Park, it wouldn't surprise me if a few ManU shirts are being taken unceremoniously down to the Seoul charity shops to make way for a prized Sooperhoops shirt.

Whatever happened to that prat that used to big-up Zesh on the old 606 board? Pakistan's most famous gooner or some such crackpot title. He used to generate almost as much abuse as Swords...<laugh>

Anyone see that Clarke Carlisle programme on racism in footbball the other night? Not sure the premiership would be so popular in Asia if they knew how much prejudice there was against Asian footballers here

I have. I've had some hits on my blog from Korea which I hadn't before Park signed. Clearly there is a whole new chapter of Overseas Hoops!

Whats with all the hype with Park?.Weve got Faurlin,Diakite, tarbs amoungst others. Ok,hes a decent squad player but he had Ronaldo,Rooney,Evra,Scholes, etc alongside him at Manu and I think it flattered him a bit. Lets all be honest, hes a shirt seller!. Air Asia, big asian pre season, new aeroplane brand....You telling me we would have signed him anyway??<whistle>.Now,Im much more excited about Holiett. We dont have any quick, young, wingers that can score....we might do now...

I think the big hype with him is because we are on a tour of Asia and he is captain (whether he stays as captain we will have to wait and see)
Once the season gets going he will be seen as a decent squad player just as you say
