http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...-Oldham-player-Tom-Adeyemi-article849913.html This is not a dig at Liverpool but it's sad to hear that a Liverpool fan has allegedly abused a black Oldham player thus leading to his arrest. I have said for years that IMO racism hasn't disappeared but it has changed. It is now frowned upon in society but subconsciously it always has and always will exist. This isn't about whether Suarez or JT are innocent/guilty, the most concerning thing for me is the reaction of the cyber warriors on Twitter and social networking sites that have abused black players and now it seems this is conveying back onto the terraces. I hope this is just a rare case but my fear is that this could be a catalyst that sparks other incidents. Fans of all clubs are welcome to share their opinions on this but please keep on topic.
I'm just back from the match and obviously didn't hear anything but the player was visibly upset and if some knob jockey has said something then they can lock the tosser up and throw away the key No doubt this will be painted by the tools as a "Liverpool" thing (it's already started on our board) but if any fan of any club wants to come on and honestly say that their respective sets of fans contain not one racist dickhead then I will laugh in their fat lying faces
This is always a subject that is difficult to discuss! Racism was an issue that pervaded the 50's and 60's and then with flower power in the 70's we thought it was all over! I, personally, find it a little bit strange, that the issue is now No1 in the national press agenda! I grew up in an age when it was very unusual to come across anyone who wasn't indigenous white and British! But progressively things changed when firstly West Indians came to fill job vacancies, most importantly, when the post war economy started to grow and Asians from the sub-continent followed on a decade later on a migration to "the promised land". We now have in the new millenium, the further addition of the new "Euros" , mostly East Europeans who seek to improve their lot in the UK! The only issue I have with this, is the size of our island and the number of people we can accomodate here without changing the the landscape with mass invasion of the Green Belt! Ho hum! I've had my say! So be it!
This is not a dig at Liverpool but it's sad to hear that a Liverpool fan has allegedly abused a black Oldham player thus leading to his arrest. That should be all for now.
If proved (and to be honest, it will be) the guy should face criminal procedings and banned from Anfield for life.
Where did you get this from? Sorry just realised that you were quoting the OP, god knows why, he is grade A.
In (small) defense of the mirror( I never liked the paper to be honest!) http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/brian-reade/Brian-Reade-column-The-FA-can-t-be-smug-over-Luis-Suarez-and-racism-given-employes-like-Peter-Brown-article849804.html
Liverpool is a great football club and should not be branded with these idiots. This complete and utter **** has tarnished an already damaged reputation of Liverpool via his own stupid actions and personally I hope they throw the bastard key away .
Question, what was your view as fans of Liverpool football club, seeing the manager and players so steadfast in their support of Suarez ? Tricky one that, you don't expect the club to hang him out to dry but at the same time I think it made the club look sympathetic which made the club look bad in many quarters. I totally accept, as a black man, that you can call someone a black xx but not be racist, but I don't think the club should've been so supportive especially after Suarez admitted to calling Evra that name. This new alleged incident will, no doubt damage your football club a little, shame really, poor timing.
Yet both the FA and Evra claim in there opinion he isn't..guess you need to get your facts right. BTW remind us of what John said to Anton again
Why would this need to be on the Chelsea board? Anyway credit to the Liverpool fans who ratted him up and Liverpool, the club, for helping identify the man so quickly.
Liverpool FC cannot be vilified by the idiocy of one bigot in a crowd and I thought the club/players handled the situation tactfully considering Adeyemi was clearly upset with the alleged comments.
