Seems we have quite a few injuries now which is a bit of a problem, thought i'd summarise them here for those not on twitter. Tettey - Ruled out for several weeks with Ligament damage, may need surgery. Edit: Tettey had Ankle surgery, will be out for 2 months. Snodgrass - Concussion, Major doubt Redmond - Pulled something in his hip, also a major doubt Van Wolfswinkel - Toe injury, to be given "another week" Not looking good thats really, what team do people think will be put out without these 4 available?
Just concussion. Usual advice in sport is nothing for 5 days. Then after that depends on how they feel and the seriousness of the concussion.
Didn't realise Tettey's was that serious, that's a real blow as Johnson looks nowhere near as good as he has of late.
general rule of thumb is that if a player is concussed they give it around 5 days, so snoddy will be out too. we really are down to the bare bones...
In reality, Snodgrass could play, but there is a tendency to be over cautious following a concussion.
i think we would be more likely to get an emergency loan for a wide man, if redmond is out for a while
I spose if Johnson is crap he can bring on Josh Murphy although I'm not sure how he would fair against City.
In fairness there is very good reason to be cautious with concussion. Many cases of people think they are fine but collapse days later through blood clots etc. Although it wouldn't be impossible but would be against doctors advice
Emergency loan stuff http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2274879/Football-League-loan-window-explained.html As its from the daily mail it must be true
Yeah maybe, but the absence of any other neurological symptoms would signal a full return to health. patients are generally advised to take a week and follow the stepwise approach to playing full contact sports again, but in reality it is overcautious. They will probably have done a CT scan again unnecessary, but reassuring for the patient.
Tettey being out is a real blow for us because he has been in-form and this only leaves Johnson, who has been terrible in every game he's played for us this season. At least we know Johnson is capable of playing well because he was so good last season but it will take him time to reverse his form and I can't see it happening quickly enough. Surely if Johnson is in the team, and Tettey is out we will have no cover on the bench at that position? I would hate to see Howson moved back to the defensive role, but that role is so important to the team. Even if we moved Fer back we would then have to start Hoolahan who has been as bad as Johnson. If Tettey really is out I'm worried about Saturday. My hope is Johnson will play and find form against Man City OTBC!
ruddy whittaker turner bassong garrido fer pilkington howson olsson elmander hooper that's as strong as i can get it
I guess Elmander could do the whole 'defend from the front' thing, but would he last the whole match?
