Lovren's potential Injury has got me thinking who is the one player you dread being absent. For me it's Lovren, had that sinking feeling against Arsenal when Jos was in! Partly because of Lovren's quality and partly because of lack of ostensible back-up. For similar reasons, Shaw would also be up there for me. Morgan is also always up there, based solely on his excellence. Anyway, cast your votes...who do you most dread being out of the starting XI?
Seeing as though Lovren tweeted that he is off to therapy, I think he is the biggest loss for us right now!
True, I think the loss of Lovren should be masked better with the re-introduction of Big Vic for the Arsenal game.
Based on this season, I think Lovren is the one we'd most miss in individual games, but if we've got time to bring in a replacement, I'd be much more confident signing someone of Lovren's caliber than Lallana's. So, Lovren short term, Lallana long term.
Its also Lovren for me, just think back to our defencive problems last season? Clearly the major improvement is not solely down to him, but he has been immense this season, hopefully the injury to him and Gaston are not to serious. Player of the year so far for me?
Lovren, partly because he is one of the best CBs in the league, partly due to the quality of our other CBs...
Interesting to see people have gone for Vic. Do you think he's more conspicious in his absence than Morgan would be?
Went for Lovren..as Rich said partly because of the quality of his replacements. Could easily have been Boruc...yes, I know he's had a few ricks but I still feel we'd have more points if he hadn't broken his hand. However, if you judged on goal scoring, I would have picked JRod...he is really coming good for us.
Went for Boruc as Davis and Gazzaniga are average, especially the latter. Shaw not playing doesn't have to result in Fox playing so don't think it's worse than Boruc missing. We kept a clean sheet away at Cardiff with Gazzaniga in goal, who needs Lovren?
I went for Wanyama. Without Lovren, our defence would still manage the strike-forces of the teams below us. The same applies for goalkeeper, with Davis being an adequate cover against weaker teams. Whereas, I feel that Wanyama is needed to dominate the more physical teams, such as West Ham and Stoke. Against better opposition, I'm not sure we'd miss one more than either of the others.
I voted for Lallana, but I don't really consider any one of the players indispensable. It's just that the chance to watch players of his ability goes a long way to justifying the cost of a ticket.
