I contend that the psychological benefit to the Tigers with a win, and the psychological damage to the other promotion contenders if they do win, will be huge in both directions....sort of reminds me of that moment Barmby equalized against Watford in that semi-final play-off second leg.....**** me what it means if we draw or lose against Burnley ?
A draw wouldn't be too damaging and would still leave us in a good position. A loss would leave us pretty much where we were before the start of this weekend, except behind Palace on GD and perhaps a little further damaged in terms of moral. A win would see the players on probably the biggest high of the season, and I'd then expect us to smash an in-form Forest at the KC.
Win will be massive but not the end of the world if not. It's certainly going to be a close finish! Think the game against Watford will be the bigger match.
A point away home might not satisfy all the anxious arthurs on here but it would be a good one given the last few away results. The results today prove that we are no where near a 'must-win game/vitally important to win' situation yet. Would be nice to win though of course but its not the end of the world if we don't all you panicking peters
Agreed, not critical, and not panicking - just suggesting that a win would have a fair degree of impact on our main contenders, including Cardiff. Crazy league though...
I really hope we do win, like you say would have an immense impact but you can just see on Monday that if we get a point all the negative nancies would be having a field day even though that would actually be a good result.
Now is the time for you lot to strike, getting a 2 point advantage over the pack will undoubtedly place pressure on them. It will then depend on what we get out of Tuesdays game. I would prefer two of us to break away now and we won't get a better chance after todays results(will we?) A draw, although better than losing, isn't enough for you, it will just keep you within the pack.
u agree, this is a vital game, i would say must win to gain an advantage over the opponents and give our team greater confidence going into the forest game! i can only see a loss tho.. if it was any other team than that ****e from.. burnley
Don't believe in that hoodoo ****(unless it's Peterborough), You go through bad patches and you go through good, sometimes a team gets lucky by playing you when you take a dip. last few games you've either been shocking or shockingly good, pretty sure you have the game to get the points, but is the old pressure valve going to do for you.
The good thing it is still in our own hands (feet) to do the job. How I relish the prospect of that final game against Cardiff being the decider for the title, divorced from the playoffs. We both have to play Forest at home...they seem to be on a roll. We both have to play Watford, us at home, Cardiff are away. Cardiff have Bolton at home...they are coming on strongly. The other opponents should be cannon fodder...but we all know what this league is all about....tight as a nun's nasty.
If our players can't take the incentive of todays results to carve out a performance on monday, then nothing will! i'd honestly love it if us and cardiff could gain a gap over 3rd place.. and then the game in may is a party atmosphere!
Come on this is City we are talking about here. We never take advantage of anything....We'll lose and give the advantage back to Watford and Palace.
Our problem is there are three of you chasing us, we prefer it to be one. Somehow we need to shrug off the other two, and relax a bit. jck
We'll be more than happy if it's just us chasing you and theirs a tad gap between 2nd and 3rd! **** those southerners
It would be such a great great atmosphere that game if we're both guaranteed automatic promotion whatever the result is! And build a new semi relationship between us fans
I'll drink to that....your round ? Cardiff-Swansea Premier League local derbys - tasty. Has that ever happened during the old 1st Division era ? I can't recall - and I've been around for ever. We may end up being the only Yorkshire team in the promised land...unless Leeds capitalize on their relatively easy run-in. That'd be tasty too.
