For linear ordinary differential equations with constant coefficients, solutions of the homogeneous equation L[x(t)] = 0 can be found using the method previously discussed in Module 6. Recall that the differential equation is replaced by an auxiliary equation in m, and from the solutions for m the general solution for x(t) can be written down. Examples 10.34-10.36 on pp.828 and 829 illustrate the three different types of solution for m (2 distinct real roots, 2 equal roots and 2 complex roots), with the corresponding solutions of the ordinary differential equations. If the function f(t) appearing in the equation L[x(t)] = f(t) is the sum of two terms of different type, e.g. t+sin t, then the trial particular integral is the sum of the trial functions corresponding to each term in the sum. Thus, when f(t) = t + sin t, the trial function for the particular integral is At + B + C sin t + Dcos t, since At + B and C sin t + Dcos t are the trial functions for t and sin t respectively.
I just been reading a Burnley thread and some mentioned Sylvain Ebanks -Blake and called him "Sylvain Ebonks-Blokes" which being a mature meber of soceity didnt make me laugh at all.......
Those of us who went to school before the 1960's used to do differential equations at Primary School. Anyone who didn't will find the following link helpful but first sharpen a pencil and get some paper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XDhJ8lVGbl8&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=SPEC88901EBADDD980
Good old days huh. My maths course is self study which means it's you, a 1500 page textbook and some long emotional hours.
You Tube is great for all of the US College and University lectures posted on just about any subject. If you are keen to brush up on things you've forgotten or learn something for the first time then they are brilliant. Having done an OU course late in life to keep the old brain active I have some sympathy for your isolated learning style. It is hard work.
I don't watch commercial TV, in fact I hardly ever watch any telly, so I completely missed this cute VW advert. Made me giggle:
Messi enters a Girl's Bedroom Whom He Wants To Score With. She Tells Him to Get Comfortable & Leaves To Freshen Up. When She Returns, She Finds Him Lying on The Bed Naked With 2 Other Guys. "What's going on???" The girl shouts. Messi calmly replies "I'm sorry dear, but I can't perform without Xavi and Iniesta
Hey up, Saints fans, enjoy a full episode, that's right, a full episode of my favourite comedy of the last few years. The mighty boosh. This week, the boys discover what being famous, is all about.
