This exact thing has been bothering me at night for at least a month now. I can't find the source and it's really hard to fall asleep at night when I can hear it (it vibrates too). I googled it and found it's a real thing - when I thought it was just me! Anyone else know about this or affected by it? And if you know a solution, I'd be even happier!

(There are more sources beyond Wiki)

Cut and paste: The Hum is a generic name for a series of phenomena involving a persistent and invasive low-frequency humming noise not audible to all people. Hums have been reported in various geographical locations. In some cases a source has been located. A Hum on the Big Island of Hawaii, typically related to volcanic action, is heard in locations dozens of miles apart. The Hum is most often described as sounding somewhat like a distant idling diesel engine. Typically, the Hum is difficult to detect with microphones, and its source and nature are hard to localize.

THE HUM is a mind control tool used by the Illuminati, do you live near a cell phone mast? If so a lead hat is needed.. Tin foil is useless now..

I live near a phone mast but the Gypsies have pinched all the lead from the area. Where can I get a lead helmet from?

I suffered from it when I lived in Ayrshire. I found moving the bed a couple of feet away from the wall helped.

Used to drive me mad. My girlfriend couldn't hear it which made it worse. Thought it was only me until someone else wrote into the local newspaper to say they were suffering from it. Never did find out what it was but some people blamed the nuclear subs going up and down the west coast.

The hum is just a generic name for any low level noise. Nothing mystical about it at all.

Well then sleep with your head at the other end of the bed and see if that makes any difference.
