Last week, I said that I want Bayern to win it because I simply want us to be the first London club to win the European Cup, no matter how long that takes. But as the game gets closer, I can't help but imagine the sheer hilarity of Spurs missing out on CL football in this way. It would be so funny and we can enjoy that but then again picturing John Terry with that trophy is a bit too much to stomach. I think once the game starts I will make my mind up, but for now I can't decide.

How is everyone else feeling ahead of this game?

Also, we need to analyse and think about what sort of affect missing the CL will have on either Chelsea or Spurs. Chelsea will just throw more money at their problem, I think but it could affect the progress of Spurs more, because like us they are run normally.

The fact that spurs have spent so much on wages means that if they miss out on CL football, they'll have to sell some people.

    About the same mate <ok>

I just think it would be too funny an opportunity to pass up, seeing the Spuds being robbed of CL football.

and then I think about that **** Terry lifting the trophy.

    It's definitely a conundrum <laugh>

    Best scenario:

    Chelsea lose.

Tottenham get knocked out while qualifying for the CL group stage.

    Simples.

I can't take any chances on spuds getting knocked out, would rather they got put out of their misery tomorrow! At least then I can enjoy the rest of the summer. The way they have been carrying on, you will think they won the league.

Its an interesting question and to be honest although the thought of Terry lifting that cup fills we with revulsion it may be the best for Liverpool(my club) and Arsenal (soft spot). Not only does it keep Spurs out of the champs league and thus the likelihood they will lose players but it also will perhaps force Chelsea to stick with Di Matteo and if that happens their much needed evolution will be put back further again. There is no way they can keep up a sustained assault on the league with their current squad, it may also stop them buying the amount of players they need.

  10. Its not as simple as that KK.

Spurs and close to signing Vertoghen and Remy, but it would appear both are waiting for the result of Saturday's game. I read a report that Remy will only sign if they make the CL, and negotiations with Vertonghen have stalled till Monday (hmm I wonder why?).

If Spurs make the CL they will be able to sign more players well before they have to play the qualifier.

I am torn over this one too. I cant stomach the thought of Terry and Cole being successful.

Keeping chelsea out of the top 4 will be harder if they win. If they lose we might sign a couple of players but not for the money chelsea can throw around. I also think modric is off regardless

Why would anyone want Chelsea to win the Champions league? Who cares if Spurs get 4th spot, we should be focussing on us and not obsessing with them. We don't want a raft of qualifying matches at the beginning of the Premiership, when we should be trying to focus on that soley. It'll be a long season with plenty of matches being played, and adding some qualifyng matches, which will no doubt carry more stress and injuries, will have a negative impact on us. On a seperate point, you think RVP will appreciate qualifiers after the long season and Euros hes had? I think not!

Mate, we don't have to play any qualifying matches, regardless of who wins the CL

I can quite happily accept Chelsea winning if it means Spurs missing out on CL next season.

Terry might be a twat but every team has them .

I wouldnt hold that against an entire team .

If it wasn't for ****y chops Terry the choice would be easy. Chelsea to win and deny the Spuds.
I've been deliberating on this all week . . .

Right, I'm going to nail my colours to the mast:

Chelsea to win, it's just too funny an opportunity to pass up seeing the spuds robbed and their best players leaving for a CL club <ok>

Again I question the validity of some of you fans.

Being a born and bred boy from Holloway I don't see how anyone would want a rival London team winning the biggest prize in club football - just so Spurs don't qualify for the CL.

    WTF ???

Yeah Spurs are our nemesis but so what ? Chelsea winning the thing is unacceptable. Let Spurs play their qualifier and hope for them to get knocked out - job done !

Chelsea winning means no CL for Spuds, a probability of loosing some top players like Modric and slipping down the table next season. Chelsea on the other hand are more immune to CL place, since Abramovich is more willing to splash the cash regardless. Loosing on CL will hit Spurs much harder than Chelsea. So my head tells me I will have to support Chavs this time for purely practical reasons. But my heart, I am afraid, will make me root for Germans, since I just could not see them to be the first London club to win this trophy. And I actually like Bayern.
