I love posting when you lot are safe in your beds, wondering which way is home or buying yet another drink trying to get lucky, so by my definition you are either trying to sort out Bristol City's problems in your dreams (forget that one) or talking to your mates, or some bird, as to how you could sort out all our problems with one fell swoop. When you wake up with a possible sore head some time tomorrow perhaps you could give me some real solutions to the major gaffs made be the board down at Ashton Gate. From my standpoint out here on the west coast of Canada I see nothing other than a total mess that is solely down to the powers that should be our leaders jus getting worse by the minute and plunging us deeper in to abject embarrassment. Quite frankly I have all but given up on seeing us anywhere close to respectability in the near future and when I look at the supposed list of potential candidates vying to save us from disaster I start to get even more worried. Gone are the days when we can expect a new manager to be anything higher than a lower league journeyman, and as for the thought of hiring someone who has been there and done that in the real footballing sense then I ask you to cast your memory back to the SC debacle which basically eliminated us from the decent managerial stakes. All I can see in our future is for the revolving door to keep on spinning spitting out lousy manager after lousy manager until we, the supporters, say "enough is enough" but wait a minute we've already done that and the message wasn't heard. So let's just be accepting of the fact that the board of Bristol City will continue down the road to nowhere ignoring all the signs and racing through the stop signs that clearly say "don't do that" until they finally hit the inevitable brick wall. Is there any hope this time - please say yes?
I've been thinking on the Steve Cotterill rumour going around. Big majority of fans wanted McInnes Big majority of fans wanted SoD Loads of fans creamed their pants with Coppell And bearing in mind the fans say they know more than the board etc. But in hindsight I bet none of us would of let those three near our club again. Maybe a manager none of us want could turn out to be the one that turns the tide.
The main decision any football board has to make is who to appoint as manager - that's exactly where we are now. ROD is probably right - someone who none of us really want could turn out to be the one who works out.
Hmmm.. wishful thinking I reckon.. If it looks like a lemon and smells like a lemon, it's probably a lemon...
Steve Coppel was the right manager for the job It was the back-tracking board of directors and the ego-laden owner who put a spoke in the works there.
Bang on As I put elsewhere our issues start and end with Lansdown and I wish he'd do one and piss off.
Like you have just said the interference from the top brass is almost certainly the root cause of our problems. From what I can see from this distance it has been there for many years and, worst of all, it shows no sign of disappearing anytime soon. Until such time as the board/owner has the common sense to appoint a footballing person to run the show, without any meddling from them, then we are doomed to this current state of affairs. A lot of us suspected it was the reason Coppell left so soon and if you can find his first interview with 20man then just look at his body language and you will see he didn't believe a word of what he was saying. Clear evidence to me that he was told a load of porkies by Lansdown and that's why he moved on.
