That wasn’t meant as a political comment. No, genuinely, I forgot and will curtail the comments here.
It is very difficult to avoid all comments which may be construed as political. Like it or not politics affects everyone. I do miss the political banter but most posters now manage to avoid any personal abuse.
Morning all. Sunny spells and the promise of some rain during the afternoon. I really hope that the rain does come as I put off my watering last night, and seeing as I will be out for dinner with friends I will not want to have to do it on my return. Only a dozen of us meeting today because people are on holiday, so I didn't have to pre-order, and the menu will be a surprise. It is the only time in the month when I am with others and can speak English. It is fine being able to say what you want without having to think have I said the wrong thing when you get a puzzled look. Enjoy your day whatever you will be doing.
Prepping for a month trip to the vineyard.. One lot of kids already left... Spending a week in the Auvergne too which I am looking forward to and have never visited before.. We leave first thing Thursday and will be spending a day visiting d day landings en route..
Morning all. Dry and sunny here today, with no rain forecast for the week. We did have some yesterday, but I do not know yet just how much. While we were having dinner yesterday there was quite a deluge for about an hour, and we were sat outside on the patio, that is well covered fortunately. The restaurant is some distance away so I am hoping that my water butts have gathered some rainwater here. An interesting discussion with a senior ex-policeman from Northern Ireland. He stood between the extremists on both sides of the argument and finished up getting the blame from both sides. What it is to be a peacemaker. Enjoy your day whatever you have to do.
We pass through Caen three or four times a year and Mme has never seen any of it... I have been to the pegasus bridge museum and been along the coast a couple of times.... and never been to the bayeux museum either.....so looking forward to it
I think the lady that runs the Pegasus Bridge cafe is the daughter of the original owner during the war, another must see. You need to be careful how you pronounce 'Caen'!!!
We stay in benouville when coming back from our cottage if it's in holiday season)cos the overnight ferry is too late for us. The glycine hotel has a superb dining room, and breakfast is extra, so we skip that and get 0830 ferry. The coast is interesting everywhere- bay of rather Somme has superb bird life. The museum in Caen is excellent. We are in Filey, missing La belle France somewhat. Might be leaving uk for good if things carry on as they are!
Yes we have been in Ouistreham many times.. Often overnight here.. And get the morning ferry... We stay at the ibis styles on the way over and the budget ibis in herouville on the way back.. We have got through most Ouistreham eateries too...
I have just realised that I am off to Headingly for the second day of the test and will be travelling back on Saturday 3pm train so am thinking I could listen to the commentary on the train. Can someone enlighten me how I can listen to John Marks please, providing I can get hooked up to the "free" wifi on Crossrail without giving up too much personal information. Many thanks.
I have never tried to access the commentary from a phone, but guess it might be similar to a tablet. I get it by going to the official site, and picking up Matchday live. Top right you click onto a button which says listen live. Others might know better than I do though.
I pick my overnight stops at hotels that have a restaurant that looks good. Booked into an Ibis Styles in Périgueux only to find that no food was available as they had a private do on that night. Not best pleased we went into town to find somewhere, and went to a restaurant overlooking the river, with a nice outside terrace. It turned out to be a fabulous meal served by lovely staff. Sometimes by chance you hit very lucky.
