Really hot today, 30°C, and hotter tomorrow. Watering needed now if I am to have a decent crop of beans. Sat under the shade of the parasol with a cold drink this afternoon, but could have done with an external aircon system.
Morning all, it is going to be a hot one today. My neighbours are hard at it, dressed in their white gardening gear so that if they pick up any tics they will be easy to see. The elderly gardener who looks after the grounds around the big house was already cutting grass as I came to. The smell of freshly cut grass is a real pleasure to me, yet it has a different smell to the one when the council come and cut the verges. At this time of day everyone has their doors and windows wide open to catch the cooler air, and then around midday they will be closed, or shutters pulled over to try and keep cool. There is little you can do in this heat, apart from watch some football.
Odd, here it's gone the other way. After two scorchers we're back to a barmy spring day. Guess the heat went north to you OFH. Well guess a bit of gardening, bit of English prep, then the Spanish game. They'll be a bit of atmosphere in my bar but nothing over the top. Too many old foggies (like me) and the youth around here seem underwhelmed by the world cup, by and large. Anyways good mornin' to you all and as ever enjoy.
Morning all, sunny and hot already. Yesterday afternoon I clocked a temperature of 37°C, but my daughter only 8 miles away said it was 38°C. We agreed it was 37.5°C. I think I might have the same problem as cologne. Voles. I put a row of mange tout in Tuesday, and yesterday found a number of seeds had appeared on the surface. No sign of birds scratching from above, so I think it must be underground activity. Mme tells me that her car needs more fuel. She leaves it until the last minute as she uses it so little, but then remembers to look at the gauge just once in a while. As there is no aircon in the car, this will have to be done this morning before the temperature soars again. Enjoy your day whatever you have planned.
The following five Mondays, the last of which is 23rd July. I then have a rest for eight weeks to let the bladder lining settle down, then in for yet another cystoscopy to see what's what.
Morning all, bright with a clear blue sky, but there is a fairly strong NE wind that is knocking the temperature back. No rain on the forecast for the next week, so our summer is back on track after all the rain through the spring. There is some comment in the French press today about the Argentine goalie and his gifting of a goal. "L'enorme boulette" is the description. Boulette can certainly be a blunder, but it can also be a meatball. Looking at it again, maybe he did think he was kicking a meatball.
