Very busy indeed. Not a happy bunny though. My niece and nephew are making their confirmations this year so there's an introductory mass --- at 6-15 PM tonight Still, if we are in need of divine intervention at least I'll be in the right place. And good luck to all of you making the journey - hope the conditions are not too horrendous.
In the rugger great effort by Italy and the Scots a bit lucky. Some great rugger. And now England Ireland. It doesn't get better than this --- someone said Dan priorities But here rain and wind have arrived. Great day for indoor sport
Morning all. Sunshine and showers forecast for today and not quite so warm again. I do wish it would make up its mind. Still off to dinner with friends today and must try and keep the conversation away from football. I wonder what will be on the menu today?
Good morning all from a cold and dry Weston-super-Mare, there was a light dusting of snow overnight but that should be it for now! Have a good day!
Morning all. One forecast says rain showers for this afternoon, while the second ones says snow showers. Whatever it is not very warm. Last night I found a photograph on the Internet of children at Oxhey infants school, probably a year or two before I was there. The memory it brought back was not one of lessons, staff or children, but the smell of cooking beetroot from the kitchen. There was also the memory of our little bottles of milk being heated on the radiators after they had been frozen in the winter months, and the boys outside toilets being out of use because they had frozen up as well. Such happy days.
Back in snowy north Leeds.... and back from the GP... fingers crossed but the flu bug has passed its worst...
Nothing wrong with beetroot - especially nice home grown globes - so long as they are kept away from vinegar.

Some of the smells emanating from school canteens of the 60s re occur like a bad dream over the years. Whatever differences of colour vegetables had had when fresh had disappeared by the time they got to the plate.
It's a mystery to me now why school cooks felt the need to turn a fresh crisp tasty cabbage into such a foul-smelling tasteless mush. Preparing us for the cruelties and disappointments of life ahead perhaps.
It was all part of the conspiracy - like Mr Bumble. Give them meat as opposed to gristle and they get too aggressive, give them crisp vegetables and............ ! Worst in our school were the peas - I like them now but their version was just a messy clump on the plate which was barely green.
I love those tiny young peas that are so sweet, just put in a pan for a few moments. They are even better when I have grown them and they are cooked within an hour of picking. There is an English friend here that doesn't like petit pois, and has deliveries of large peas from Tesco sent to her.
