Morning all. It is a real get outside and do something type of day. Sunny, no wind, and temperature climbing throughout the day.
Morning all, bright and breezy here today. I took my strimmer yesterday to some of the grass that has kept growing over the past few weeks. It looks as if it has dried up enough to run the mower over it and tidy it up. I wonder if this will be the last cut of the year?
Morning all, bright, warm and sunny, but quite breezy. Looks as if the weather here is better than some parts of the UK. Flood defences would be quite a good idea to spend some money on. Some people have just been flooded out for the second time in two years.
Morning all. Mild SW wind blowing in the rain today, which is forecast to last all day. I am glad I cut the grass earlier in the week, but this weather will only make it grow again. I noticed that some Foie Gras has started to appear in the supermarkets. Due to avian flu it will be in short supply this year. I rarely eat it, only at a restaurant, and although I can see the attraction of the flavour I am not happy about production methods. It has been around since the Egyptians 2500BC started to fatten poultry. It can be produced without force feeding and I believe you can buy some in Waitrose under the name of faux gras.
Early start tomorrow, and may not be back in time for the match. Off to a Christmas Fair to raise some money for the local food bank. Last year they were providing for 123 people, but today that number has fallen to 68. Things are getting better here with more having work, but 68 is still too many. Although supported by both private individuals and the supermarkets they often run short on things like toothpaste or nappies, so some cash allows them to buy the items they run out of. The people who need help often only require it for a month or two, so those 68 are not the same people from a year ago. Still while at the Fair I will no doubt find plenty of good food to enjoy, and the mulled wine is always good, but might well feel deprived of the football.
I have to leave just after kick off and will not be back until after the game has ended but i will get updates with my phone Via the BBC web site
Morning all from beautiful sunny but frosty day. It is quite normal to see several herons following a flock of sheep around a field here. I can only assume that as the grass is grazed to a low level it exposes things such as frogs that the birds are looking for.
